Tang Ye: Veteran Director Devoted to Classical Dramas and Charity Affairs

Tang Ye is a drama director from theBeijing People's Art Theater. She has stressed the principle of realism in her dramatic creations and has held a strong dedication to work, as well as the fulfillment of responsibilities during her 12-year-long career.

Tang has provided Su Min (1926-2016) and many other elderly artists great assistance in the completion of their classical dramas, which include Li Bai, about thegreat Chinese poetof the Tang Dynasty(618-907), TianZhi Jiao Zi(ortheChosen Ones), CaiWenji, about the renowned female poet and composerof the Han Dynasty(206 BC-AD 220), and Yuan Ye(Wild Land).

In addition to her work inheriting classics, Tang has been praised for her independent workof directing a dozen dramas, such asYongding Families, Gin Game, Guan Hanqing, and Peking Neighbors, all of which have received high acclaim from professionals and audiences.

Tang has been conferred with the 7th Beijing Literature and Art Award, the National Drama and Culture Award, the Golden Lion Award for Best Drama Director,  and the Beijing Municipal March 8th Red-Banner Award by the Beijing Women's Federation in recognition of her outstanding work.

In addition, Tang has been selected as the leader of a couple of the capital city's talents programs.

Tang has also often taken part in charity affairs when she is not busy with her dramatic creations.

For instance, Tang still found time to lecture students on recitation and drama in neighboring primary schools. She also held professional training on speech and performance in the Beijing Bureau of Retired Veteran Cadres when she was a member of the Aesthetic Education Association in the city’s DongchengDistrict.

Furthermore, Tang has paid close attention to the development of women and children's affairs, contributingto the compilation of textbooks for visually impaired people.
