To Beijing Women's Federation,

As the 2020 International Women’s Day approaches, it is a pity that we cannot gather and celebrate this special festival together this year. Despite the long geographical distance between the two countries, we can feel that our hearts are brought closer to each other. In the face of the COVID-19, we extend our support and aid to each other, forging an even closer friendship between China and South Korea.

The theme of 2020 International Women’s Day is I am the Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights. Since Beijing Declaration and Beijing Platform of Action were adopted at the 4th World Conference on Women in 1995, the process of women’s development has made positive progress at a global level. An increasing number of girls have gained the opportunity to receive education. The number of women dying during childbirth has been almost decreased by half. Female leaders have been emerging in the enterprises, governments and organizations all over the world. All of these are the embodiment of I am the Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights. We have to admit that women in China and South Korea are playing a key role in their working positions. Together with male counterparts fighting on the front line, numerous women have made outstanding contribution to the society and country. With the approach of 2020 International Women's Day, I hereby extend our sincerest wishes to Beijing Women's Federation on behalf of Korea-China Friendship Association of Culture & Economy, and I hope that we will continue to support each other, join hands to protect women’s rights and also contribute to the gender equality in employment.

Before 2020 International Women’s Day arrives, the COVID-19 has swept the whole China and hit Wuhan city of Hubei province with severe extent. In the face of the epidemic, boundless love is bound to prevail. When addressing the meeting attended by chief secretarial officers and assistant officers, South Korea’s President Moon Jae-in stressed that, South Korea will spare no efforts to support and aid China in the battle against the COVID-19 as a friendly neighbor. Recently, the epidemic situation of COVID - 19 has been worsening in South Korea. We are deeply touched by the enormous support from the Chinese government and all walks of life. We firmly believe that winter will eventually pass and spring is sure to come. We also believe that we will overcome whatever hardship lies ahead with concerted efforts. Finally, I would like to express my sincerest greeting and respect to numerous medical staff that are fighting on the front line of epidemic prevention and control.
