Local audiences of all ages attended the Beijing Family Culture Show at the capital's Tianqiao Performing Arts Center on December 1.

The stage event and exhibition was jointly organized by the Publicity Department for Beijing Committee of the Communist Party of China, Beijing Civilization Office, Beijing Municipal Education Committee and Beijing Women's Federation (BWF).

Attendees included Cai Shumin, secretary and president of the Leadership Party Group of BWF, Chen Xiaoxia, director-general of the Department of Family and Children's Affairs of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), and relevant leaders from different departments in Beijing.

Ma Hongping, vice president of BWF, made a speech during the opening. She introduced the efforts made by BWF in terms of family work through creative methods and the organization's cooperation with members of society and other departments including Beijing Municipal Education Commission.

During the show, participants reviewed and summarized the activities carried out to promote family culture in Beijing over the past year through videos, performances, prize announcements and interviews.

The program opened with a ping-pong show performed by children who had participated in a project calling on youngsters to put away their cell phones and take part in sports.

Children also sang songs on safety, reflecting the achievements of a project aimed at instructing families in paying greater attention to accident prevention.

In addition, some students and their parents read letters written to each other, which gave the audience members a taste of how families keep in close communication and make progress together.

Leaders present at the activity gave medals and trophies to the city's exemplary family civilization building bases and creative projects as well as children who made outstanding achievements in themed education practices.

After the prize-giving, participants  attended four exhibitions on the theme of: "family civilization building projects", "changes in family life over the past 40 years since reform and opening-up", "vividly practicing green life in the family" and "themed education practices".

The exhibitions will remain on display at the arts center for the next week.

This year, BWF has organized 1,309 individual services and activities and implemented 35 family civilization building projects through cooperation with social organizations on the theme of "Family, family education and family traditions".

Meanwhile, BWF has held themed education practices in primary and secondary schools along with the city's education commission.

By showing the achievements of family civilization building including outstanding projects, bases, social organizations and family work, the activity aimed to create new platforms, promote exchanges and gather more efforts from different sectors of society to serve families and children.

Over 200 locals attended the activity including students, their parents, staff members of the Women's Associations at various districts and leaders of relevant social organizations.
