Winners of the 2019 Most Beautiful Familiesin the Capital Citywere announced on May 10 in Beijing, with representatives of the winners, government officials, and media reporters attending the awards ceremony.

The event was organized by the Publicity Department of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Capital Civilization Office and the Beijing Women's Federation (BWF).

CaiShumin, Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), Chen Xiaoxia, Director of the Department of Family and Children Affairs of the ACWF, ZhengHaiyang, Member of the Party Committee and Director of the Political Department of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau, Cheng Changhong, Member of the Standing Committee and Director of the Organization Departmentof the CPC Xicheng District Committee, Wei Jiang, Deputy Secretary of the Leading Party Group of the BWF, Ma Hongping, Vice President of the BWF, and other officials from the Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and the Capital Civilization Office attended the event.

Six representatives of the2019Beijing's most beautiful familiesshared their family stories, focused on themes of patriotism and family affection, beneficence and persistence in practicing a low carbon lifestyle, and community sharing and construction.

Olympic taekwondo champion Chen Zhong shared her family's story of threegenerations' connection with sports. Chen's family takes sports spirit as a family treasure, maintaining the family affection between family members, witnessing good family traditions from generation to generation, and showing the family's sincere love for their country.

Liu Wei comes from a police family, in which her grandfather, father and her husband all have served as police officers. Liu's beloved family members make every effort to protect the safety of the lives of the masses and show their loyalty and dedication to the country.

OuyangXiangping shared her family's practice and experience in pursuing a simple, moderate, green and environment-friendly way of life. The family was rated as a low-carbon modelfamily in China by the UN Climate Change Conference held in Paris in 2015.

Chinese actor Hu Yajie and his wife are actively engaged in charity. They have organizeda burn care fund for public welfare for four years. Hu was given the honorary title of "Chinese Charity Model" by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of China.

Lang Enge shared his story of evolving from a shepherd to an international skiing coach. Lang set up a farmers'ski team, leading his family and fellow villagers from a remote snow and ice town to aninternational large ski resort to show the world the change inChinese peasants.

Wang Huili's family is a dedicated contributor to community constructionin Beijing's Xicheng District. From her grandfather, mother, herself to her daughter, the four generations have made their own efforts in community development, demonstrating a simple spirit of loving the community, building the community, and maintaining the community's peace. They convey the family virtues of neighborhood mutual assistance, harmony and friendliness.

Zhang Yajun, Secretary of the Leading Party Group of the BWF, delivered a speech at the event, saying that the selection aimed to discover the good virtues, kindness, and affection of ordinary families in the city, and to presentfamilyvirtueas a beauty of different types the public couldlearn from.

"We hope more families will keep good family virtues, carry forward the good family traditions and maintain fine family style, to promote affection for each other and for the country and build a harmonious society where everyone wants to contributetoits development," Zhang said.

Beijing's most beautiful family selection activity has been held since 2014, calling families to tell their stories, share happiness, communicate family styles and education, and pursue family dreams.

Over the past six years, more than 586,000 households were awarded the title of "most beautiful family" at all levels in Beijing for their fine family style. Theyaregood models for inheriting the traditional virtues of the Chinese nation and promoting the core values of socialism.
