The 6th Hello, My World—China OpenChildren's Joy Activity, co-sponsored by Beijing Women's International Center and the Organizing Committee ofChina Open Teenage Hosts Event, was held in the capital city during the recently concluded seven-day National Day holiday.
The 2019 China Open was held at the National Tennis Center from September 22 to October 6.
The gathering was themed on promoting harmonious cultural exchanges among families in Beijing, and building a top-class capital of harmony and livability, and offered sports culture as well as an international perspective to local and foreign families in the capital city as part of celebration activities for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
The event started its preliminary on August 10 and a dozen of children who were interested in and good at hosting were selected as hosts to accompany families from home and abroad during their visits to the 2019 China Open.The visits involved an international vision and diverse cultures.
The young hosts interviewed tennis players and lectureChinese and foreign families on tennis to help them embrace sports culture. Amid the festive atmosphere of the National Day, some players from Canada and Russia said that they see new changes each time they come to Beijing and they hoped more people will get interested in tennis through the event and become disseminators of sports culture.
The young hosts also invited tennis stars and spectators to express their best wishes to China oncamera.
Ahead of the event, organizers held an interactive session for the teenagers so they could better experience multi-cultural atmosphere and enhance their capabilities for the post.
Professional trainers from China and the US spoke with these hosts about hosting, basic knowledge of tennis, and cross-cultural communication during a tour to the China Open special court in Qinhuangdao-based Aranya beach.
Young participants were also organized to attend simulated China Open games and thematic activities in relation to maritime environmental protection, natural ecosystem and sustainable development.
After the event, the teenagers shared their thoughts and gains with people around them, saying that it had broadened their horizons, expanded their social circles. They are more willing to embrace new things, learn foreign languages, improve international communicative competence, and grow into ambassadors for international cultural exchanges in the future.
The gathering since its beginnings in 2014 has become a flagship event in which Beijing promotes internationalized family culture and helps local and foreign families strengthen cultural communication and help Beijing continue as a culture center and a center for international exchange.
