Women from all walks of life in Beijing gathered together on March 4 to attend a symposium marking International Women's Day, which falls on March 8. Outstanding women, including representatives of National March 8th Red-banner Award Holders, National March 8th Red-banner Groups and National Women Pacesetters for Achievements, shared their stories of becoming successful under the guidance of the Party.
Zhang Yankun, Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Beijing Municipal Committee, Li Yanlai, Deputy Secretary-General of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, and Zhang Yajun, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and President of the Beijing Women's Federation (BWF), attended the symposium.
Lu Yongli, a National March 8th Red-banner Award Holder and deputy Party secretary and principal of Beijing No. 2 Experimental Primary School, told her stories of cultivating students' morals as an elementary educator.
Meng Fanbin, a National March 8th Red-banner Award Holder, secretary of the Party Branch and head nurse of the infectious diseases department of Beijing Emergency Medical Center shared her touching experiences of playing a pioneering role as a Party member and devoting herself to the sacred cause of protecting the lives and health of the people.
Zhu Qin, a National Women Pacesetter for Achievements and director of the website and policies and regulations of the municipal government affairs service administration of Beijing, outlined the development of the digital government affairs service, showing the improvement in work efficiency and the staff's care for the people.
Kuang Yan, a National March 8th Red-banner Award Holder and director of the police station of Maizidian of the Chaoyang branch of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau, shared her stories of sticking to her position and being loyal to the Party as a woman police officer.
Jiang Yan, a Beijing Municipal March 8th Red-banner Medal winner who is working as Party secretary and vice-president at Beijing Kuangshi Technology Co., Ltd., talked about her experience in fighting against the epidemic with scientific and technological approaches, which demonstrated her effort to fulfill the original aspiration of building a powerful nation of science and technology.
Zhang Yankun, on behalf of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and the municipal government, extended holiday greetings to women in Beijing, whose population is more than 10 million, and workers of women's cause.
It was mentioned at the symposium that women in Beijing have made great contributions to both epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development under the guidance of the Party. Women's federations at all levels in Beijing have played a unique role in the city's comprehensive development. They deepened reform, strengthened women's leadership, and made remarkable achievements in the development of women's causes in Beijing.
It was emphasized at the symposium that women should cultivate self-respect, self-confidence, self-reliance and self-improvement and use this spirit to promote a new style of socialist family virtue, Beijing's leading position in realizing socialist modernization and socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era.
It was requested that women's federations at all levels in Beijing should accurately understand their role of being a bridge that connects the Party and women, and a useful assistant, leading women in the city to make contributions at the frontline.
The leaders, heads of various departments and institutions of the BWF, and presidents of district-level women's federations attended the symposium.
