BWF Establishes Women’s Working Committee for Social Organizations and Home of Social Organizations
Date:2024-12-23 10:39:45 Views:On December 20, 2024, the Beijing Women’s Federation (BWF) officially inaugurated the Women’s Working Committee for Social Organizations and Home of Social Organizations following extensive research, mobilization, and preparation, with strong support from various stakeholders.
The initiative aligns with the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress and the third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. It also embodies General Secretary Xi Jinping’s directive to “establish more women’s federations in the ‘three new fields’ (new economic organizations, new social organizations, and new employment groups) to achieve full coverage.” It represents a significant step by the BWF, building on its achievements earlier this year in establishing women’s federations across Beijing’s top 100 internet companies and top 500 private enterprises. The establishment of the Women’s Working Committee marks the beginning of a new chapter in advancing women’s cause and expanding women’s federations within the “three new fields.”
Leaders from the All-China Women’s Federation (ACWF), the Social Work Commission of the Beijing Municipal Committee, the Beijing Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau, and other relevant organizations addressed the meeting, attended by over 90 representatives, including those from municipal and district-level social organizations, their supervisory agencies, and women’s federation staff from various districts.
The meeting began with the inauguration ceremony of the BWF Home of Social Organizations, during which leaders jointly unveiled its logo, followed by the formal adoption of the resolution to establish the Women’s Working Committee. Then, Yang Liping, Director-General of the Committee, presented a report on the preparatory work before the concluded with warm applause as the nine members of the Women’s Working Committee were introduced.
Du Chunxiao, Vice President of the BWF, extended warm congratulations on the establishment of the Committee and set clear expectations for its work. She emphasized the Committee’s critical role in providing guidance and strengthening the skills of social organization staff members through continuous learning, which would contribute to the capital’s high-quality economic and social development. Du also encouraged the Committee to take proactive measures, foster collaboration, and establish itself as a platform for mutual growth and a welcoming hub for women’s social organizations in Beijing, stressing the need to uphold Party leadership, fulfill its responsibilities, and enhance internal development. In this new historical phase, the Committee should align with the capital’s overarching development goals, unite and lead women’s social organizations to take on responsibilities, and embody the spirit that “women are no less than men,” playing a key role in driving social organizations’ growth.
Zhang Hui, Director-General of the ACWF Social Liaison, Exchanges, and Cooperation Center, highly commended the BWF’s achievements in the “three new fields” and expressed hope that it would continue to lead by example, achieving full coverage of women’s federations in social organizations with Party committees by 2025.
