Date:2024-12-13 10:45:26 Views:On December 12, the Office of the Beijing Municipal Working Committee on Children and Women hosted the 2024 training session at the Beijing Conference Center, aiming to enhance member organizations’ and district-level committees’ understanding of national policies on gender equality and awareness of “first call for children.” It also sought to strengthen their capacity and efforts to jointly advance the high-quality development of women’s and children’s affairs in the capital.
The training session followed the guiding principles of the third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the work plans of the National Working Committee on Children and Women under the State Council, and the directives of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and Government. It also aligned with the requirements set forth in the 2024 plenary (expanded) meeting of the Beijing Municipal Working Committee on Children and Women.
This training featured a comprehensive curriculum that combined theoretical insights with practical applications. Professor Li Mingshun from China Women’s University delivered a keynote lecture on implementing national policies on gender equality within the framework of Chinese-style modernization. Qiu Hong, a senior-ranked, professor-level senior engineer at the Beijing Municipal Institute of City Planning & Design, and Tang Fang, an associate professor at the School of Law at China Women’s University, shared their expertise on building child-friendly cities and implementing gender equality assessment mechanisms, respectively.
Chen Yanping, Executive Deputy Director of the Office of the Working Committee and Vice President of the Beijing Women’s Federation, outlined the committee’s roles, responsibilities, and working mechanisms. She also provided guidance on drafting the 15th Five-Year Plan for women’s and children’s affairs. Furthermore, Chen urged trainees to strengthen their political awareness, improve communication and coordination, and integrate gender equality and the “first call for children” principle into their work. She further called for a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to advancing women’s and children’s development in the capital, ushering in a new chapter of progress.
Around 90 participants attended the training session, including liaisons from member organizations of the Working Committee, as well as officials and staff members from district-level committee offices.
