The First Women’s Development Forum of Capital Normal University Successfully Held

On the afternoon of March 6, the inaugural Women’s Development Forum of Capital Normal University (CNU) was successfully held. The forum was themed “Showcasing Women’s Excellence, Building Dreams in a New Era.” Cao Wenjun, Secretary of the CNU Party Committee, and Tan Hong, Vice President of the Beijing Women’s Federation (BWF), attended and addressed the forum. The forum was hosted by Sun Xiaofeng, Deputy Party Secretary of the CNU Party Committee and President of the CNU Women’s Federation.

The forum opened with a choral performance of Youth Dance by students from the Music College of CNU. In his speech, Secretary Cao Wenjun pointed out that women account for more than half of CNU’s faculty and students, making them a vital force in the school’s development. As China works towards becoming a leading country in education, women’s contributions are indispensable. He encouraged female faculty members to stay committed to their mission of educating, innovate in their methods, and push the boundaries of academic research. He also urged female students to aim high, study diligently, hone their skills, and cultivate the spirit of innovation and a sense of social responsibility.

Vice President Tan Hong commended the CNU Women’s Federation for their work. She noted that CNU has always placed great emphasis on the work of the Women’s Federation, with its female faculty and students making notable achievements in teaching, scientific research, and social services. She noted that the CNU Women’s Federation has carried out substantial and diverse initiatives, and this forum has provided a high-quality platform for exchanging ideas, sharing experiences, and promoting common development. She expressed hope that the CNU Women’s Federation would strengthen its efforts and enhance collaboration with women’s federations at other universities to make a greater contribution to the high-quality development of women and children’s causes in Beijing.

Li Ling, Executive Vice President of the CNU Women’s Federation, delivered a report on the federation’s work, summarizing its active efforts over the past year. She introduced the “1234+N” work model, developed through practical experience, which has laid a solid foundation for future work.

During the forum’s speaking session, eight outstanding female representatives shared their experiences. In the section titled “Women Role Models Leading the Way: Sharing the Power of Progress”, Zhang Shuang, head of a National March 8th Red-Banner Collective and Dean of the College of Education of CNU, shared her team’s award-winning experience. Shen Jie, a recipient of the Beijing March 8th Red Banner Medal and Party Secretary of CNU High School, spoke about her insights into educational management. Wang Shuqin, a Changjiang Scholar and professor at the College of Marxism of CNU, shared her research experience. Zhang Liangliang, a delegate to the 14th and 15th National Women’s Congresses and a professor in the Department of Physics of CNU, shared her insights from participating in the congresses. In the section titled “Pooling Professional Think Tanks to Empower the Development of Women and Children”, heads of several key organizations shared their contributions to the field of women and children’s work and outlined future plans within their respective areas of expertise. The presenters included Kang Liying, head of the Beijing Family Education Guidance Center, Wang Zhengyan, head of the Beijing Development Research Base of Women and Children, Ai You, head of the China Women’s Culture Research Center, and Xi Xiaohua, head of the Beijing Youth & Children Social Work Research Institute.

The forum concluded on a high note, with a strong festive spirit. This gathering brought together the strength of women in higher education to contribute to a new chapter in advancing women’s cause in Beijing.
