Beijing WAST Convenes Second General Members’ Meeting of First Session

The Second General Members’ Meeting of the First Session of the Beijing Women’s Association for Science and Technology (Beijing WAST) was recently held at Beike Building. The meeting was attended by leaders from the Beijing Women’s Federation (BWF), the Beijing Association for Science and Technology (BAST), the Beijing Academy of Science and Technology (BJAST), and the China Women’s Association for Science and Technology (CWAST), who also delivered speeches, and over 110 Beijing WAST representatives.
During the meeting, leaders commended Beijing WAST for its achievements over the past year and expressed high expectations for its future endeavors. Attendees reviewed and approved the 2024 Beijing WAST Work Report, the 2024 Beijing WAST Financial Report, and the 2024 Beijing WAST Supervisory Committee Report. Key priorities for 2025 were also outlined.
The meeting also featured a special session for keynote presentations. Fang Xin, former Deputy Secretary of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Party leadership group, Academician of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), and Honorary President of the Chinese Association of Science of Science and S&T Policy Research (CASSTP), delivered a report titled Responsible Research. Her presentation provided an in-depth analysis of the qualities and responsibilities that researchers should uphold, focusing on scientific ethics and societal duty. Dr. Wang Wei from the University of Selangor presented a report titled Guardians of Hope: How Faith Illuminates Life Through Science, where she shared her personal journey of overcoming cancer as a beneficiary of technological advancements.
The meeting concluded with a harmonious fusion of traditional guqin melodies and virtual reality technology.
