To fully implement the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, and to effectively advance toward achieving the objectives set out in the national and municipal 14th Five-Year Plans for women and children’s development, the Office of Beijing Municipal Women and Children Committee, in collaboration with the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Statistics, held a training session on statistical monitoring on April 15.

Chen Yanping, Executive Deputy Director of the Office of Beijing Municipal Women and Children Committee and Vice President of the Beijing Women’s Federation, attended the session and delivered remarks.

During the session, Jiang Yongping, a researcher at the Women's Studies Institute of China under the All-China Women’s Federation, delivered a keynote lecture on monitoring women and children’s development as well as gender-related statistics. Meanwhile, representatives from the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Statistics provided guidance on ensuring legal compliance in statistical work, explained the indicator system for monitoring women and children’s development, and outlined statistical tasks planned for 2025. In addition, representatives from the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Civil Affairs, the Xicheng District Bureau of Statistics of Beijing, and the Dongcheng District Office of Women and Children Committee of Beijing also shared their experiences and insights.

The session also outlined key requirements for statistical monitoring under both the national and municipal women and children’s development plans. These included strengthening political awareness and proactively integrating women and children’s development efforts into broader strategic frameworks; maintaining a focus on key tasks while ensuring coordination between the evaluation and formulation of development plans; and enhancing statistical monitoring to establish a solid, data-driven foundation for the high-quality development of women and children-focused initiatives.

The training session was attended by over 100 participants, including personnel from the Office of the Beijing Municipal Women and Children Committee and the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Statistics, statistical officers from all member organizations of the Beijing Municipal Women and Children Committee, as well as representatives from district offices of the Beijing Municipal Women and Children Committee and district statistics bureaus across the capital.
