The meeting focused on thoroughly studying and implementing the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China as well as the second and third plenary sessions of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC. It also aimed to fully carry out the work requirements of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and the All-China Women’s Federation, review the achievements of the first half of the year, and make arrangements for key tasks in the second half. Zhang Yajun, Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group and President of the BWF, delivered a work report. Zhao Hongwei, Deputy Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group and Vice-President of the BWF, presided over the meeting.
The meeting pointed out that under the strong leadership of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and the All-China Women’s Federation, women’s federations across the city have upheld Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as their guiding ideology. They have earnestly studied and implemented General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important remarks on women, children, and the work of women’s federations, as well as the key messages from his important speeches in Beijing. Guided by the overarching goal of promoting the development of the capital in the new era, the women’s federations have actively fulfilled their duties of guiding, serving, and connecting women. They have made every effort to support and safeguard the Global Summit of Women, fully advanced the implementation of deeper women’s federation reforms, stayed on the right course, upheld integrity while fostering innovation, and focused on delivering concrete outcomes. Their work has advanced steadily and effectively, demonstrating a new spirit and outlook.
The meeting emphasized that all executive committee members of the Beijing Women’s Federation, along with women’s federations at all levels across the city, must further strengthen their awareness of the capital’s responsibilities, enhance their sense of commitment, stay united, and work diligently to ensure the full and successful completion of the two major tasks. At the same time, efforts must be made to advance the four reform initiatives assigned to the BWF under the municipal reform implementation plan, and move forward in parallel with the “Five Initiatives” and “Six Practical Tasks,” while upholding fundamental principles, promoting innovation, and improving the quality and efficiency of work across ten key areas. They must remain mindful of their political responsibilities, uniting and guiding women to follow the Party and stay aligned with its cause. They should elevate their political awareness and provide first-rate service and support for the Global Summit of Women. With a vision anchored in national priorities, women’s federations are expected to organize and mobilize women to make new contributions to the capital’s reform and development. Efforts should focus on key priorities, particularly on improving mechanisms that leverage the role of family, family education, and family values in grassroots governance. A people-centered approach must be upheld to promote gender equality and the comprehensive development of women and children. Reform and innovation should be deepened to enhance the role of women’s federations as a bridge and a bond between the Party and women.
The meeting called on all executive committee members of the BWF and women’s federations at all levels across the city to strengthen their political commitment, improve systematic planning, and firmly adopt a unified, whole-of-system mindset. They must remain united in purpose, take steady and pragmatic steps, and mobilize the collective strength of the entire system to ensure the successful completion of all annual tasks. Through joint efforts, they should strive to elevate the cause of women and children in Beijing to new heights and achieve fresh progress in high-quality development.
