In her speech, Lei Xiaoning highlighted that the event has been successfully held for four consecutive years, with its themes growing more diverse, its reach expanding, and its social influence increasing. It has served as an effective platform for promoting exchange among women, children, and families across Beijing, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. This year’s theme, “Childhood Dreams Painted My Wonderful City,” not only advocates for greater focus on the development of child-friendly cities but also fosters meaningful cross-regional emotional and cultural connections. She expressed the hope that all parties would join hands to create a supportive urban environment where more children can grow up healthy and pursue their dreams.
Pansy Ho Chiu-king noted in her speech that the event’s focus on child-friendly city development echoes General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important directive for Party committees, governments at all levels, and society at large to “care for children and create favorable conditions for their growth.” She emphasized that children should be empowered as a driving force in promoting such development, and highlighted the strong support and enthusiastic participation the event has received from all sectors of society.
Meanwhile, Stephanie Hung Yu-chieh remarked that under the theme “One Heart, One Dream, One Future,” the event leverages painting as a cultural bridge to foster connection and mutual understanding among youth from Beijing, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. With their brushes, children vividly capture the country’s rapid development, showcasing the vibrant diversity of beautiful Chinese culture through their youthful artwork.
Lau Kam Ling noted that Macao has shown tremendous enthusiasm for the event since its inception, with record-high participation this year. She expressed hope that the event would sow the seeds of cultural appreciation in children’s hearts and looked forward to strengthened collaboration among women’s organizations to jointly build a more child-friendly future.
Zhang Chun highlighted the event as an important platform for children from Beijing, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan to strengthen communication and deepen friendships. Through artistic exchange, it advances aesthetic education and cultural development, encouraging children to cultivate an appreciation for beauty, strong moral character, and compassionate hearts.
Since its launch in April, the event has received 5,355 submissions. A total of 509 participants — including those from Beijing, Hong Kong and Macao, as well as Taiwan compatriots residing in Beijing — were selected and awarded titles including “Star of the Future,” “Wings of the Future,” “Sail of the Future,” “Torch of the Future,” and “Light of the Future.”
