On the morning of August 1, the Beijing Women’s Federation (BWF) hosted the fifth installment of its 2025 “Warmth for Women in the Three New Sectors” cultural tour at the Institute of Crop Sciences, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Twenty families from the three new sectors (new economic organizations, new social organizations, and new employment groups) gathered for the special event themed “Into the Halls of Science, Uncover the Ark of Seeds,” embarking on a fun and educational journey into the world of agricultural science and technology.

Professional guides from the Institute led families through visits to scientific laboratories and education bases, as well as provided detailed explanations. Participants toured the National Crop Science Education Base and the National Crop Genebank, where children learned about various crop varieties—their appearance, growth cycles, seed types, preservation methods—and the crucial role they play in ensuring food security. The visits offered a vivid look at the technological foundations behind China’s food crop production strategy based on technological application, deepened participants’ understanding of seeds as the “lifeblood of agriculture” in safeguarding national food security. An interactive session brought even more excitement, as families took part in hands-on seed observation and identification activities. These hands-on experiences not only enhanced parent-child bonding but also sparked children’s curiosity and passion for agricultural science, planting the seeds of wonder that one day may grow into a love for scientific exploration.

The event was made possible through the strong support of the Institute of Crop Sciences, and co-organized by its Women’s Committee. It offered a feast of informative science experience for families of women in the three new sectors, allowing participants to immerse themselves in the pulse of modern agricultural technology. The event was met with enthusiastic praise from all participating families.

The BWF’s “Warmth for Women in the Three New Sectors” cultural tour will continue to deliver enriching and diverse cultural experiences for families of women in the three new sectors. The final stop will take families to Beijing Zhong Yin Law Firm, where they will embark on an engaging and practical exploration of legal knowledge.
