Celebrating Ethnic Unity as One Family, Uniting for a New Future—The 2025 Beijing-Xizang “Most Beautiful Families” Exchange and Integration Event Held in Beijing
Date:2025-8-7 11:24:19 Views:When the aroma of Beijing roast duck blends with the rich scent of Xizang butter tea, and the warm greetings in Beijing dialect are met with the heartfelt blessings in Tibetan, the capital in August transforms into a stage for a touching family reunion that spans three thousand kilometers.
From August 1st to 7th, the Xizang Women’s Federation and the China National Children’s Center, supported by the Beijing Women’s Federation, jointly organized the 2025 exchange event entitled “Highland Pomegranates & Blooming Gesang Flowers—Celebrating Ethnic Unity as One Family, Uniting for a New Future”. Fourteen “Most Beautiful Families” from Xizang and Beijing join hands, beautifully illustrating ethnic unity and mutual connections.
Uniting as Family:
Building a Cultural Bridge from the Heart
“Good morning! Welcome to Beijing!” On August 2, Beijing families gathered early at the China National Children’s Center to warmly greet their guests from Xizang who had traveled from afar.. During the “Heart-to-Heart Q&A” session, when asked about their happiest recent memory and their biggest wish for 2025, families from both regions shared remarkably similar answers. These shared insights sparked deeper connections, as the wisdom and warmth from their diverse life experiences intertwined and enriched one another.
During the family values forum, participants gathered around the table to share stories of their “treasured family traditions.” Families from Beijing, like Shi Bo, Hou Ning, and Gao Shilei, recounted their experiences in public service through volunteering in legal education, a legacy of technological innovation passed down through three generations, and the daily dedication of a police officer’s family. Meanwhile, the Dawa Gyalsen and Nyima Tsering families from Xizang shared their efforts to raise the next generation with strong values, along with their humble yet deep sense of responsibility. Though their lives followed different paths, they embody the same spirit of aspiration and kindness, turning “most beautiful” family values into a spiritual bond that transcends geographical boundaries.
In the warm and lively atmosphere, families from both regions sincerely exchanged thoughtfully designed “Heart-to-Heart Cards.”
“Tashi Delek! We’re so happy to meet your family!”
“A bosom friend afar brings a distant land near. This little card connects our two families—now we have kin at the foot of the snow-capped mountains!”
The cultural gala filled the room with joyous energy. Powerful martial arts performances, vibrant Tibetan dances, and remarkable children’s recitations presented a rich tapestry of artistic expressions on stage. When all families came together to sing “My Motherland and Me,” their heartfelt voices resonated with patriotic pride, vividly capturing the spirit of “ethnic unity as one family.”
Red Baptism:
Cultivating Love for the Motherland and Embracing the Spirit of Patriotism
At 4:00 a.m., representatives from Xizang families arrived early at Tiananmen Square to participate in the flag-raising ceremony. As the morning sun illuminated the edges of the Five-Starred Red Flag, Losang Quji raised his hand and waved the national flag along with others. At the Mao Zedong Memorial Hall, the pure white khata scarves created a striking contrast with the vibrant flower baskets. After learning about Mao Zedong’s life, Renqing Jiaco reflected, “I realize that the struggle was tough, but Mao Zedong, throughout many years of hardship and struggle, always led everyone to confront difficulties head-on, which deeply inspired me.” At the Exhibition Hall of the History of the Communist Party of China, exhibits and explanations guided the families through the Party’s glorious history and great achievements. After watching the film about the Long March, Nima Zhuzha remarked, “They are true heroes.”
The year 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. The paired family members visited the Museum of the War of Chinese People’s Resistance Against Japanese Aggression where they retraced the tumultuous years of war, honored the past, paid tribute to the martyrs, and deepened their national identity and patriotic devotion.
Exploring the Frontiers of Science:
Feeling the Pulse of Our Times, Collaboratively Building the Dream of a Strong Nation
At the China Science and Technology Museum, children eagerly engaged with interactive exhibits, experiencing the wonders of science firsthand. At the National Space Science Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xizang families attended aerospace-themed lectures and participated in scientific experiments. In front of the giant panda house in Beijing Zoo, Tenzin Drolma greeted the pandas in Tibetan while learning about biodiversity through observation.
Through this series of science education activities, families developed a deeper appreciation of China’s remarkable modern achievements, as the light of science sparked curiosity and inspiration in young minds.
On the eve of departure, family representatives shared their reflections at the closing ceremony. The experiences they shared throughout the week, like the railway tracks of the Beijing-Xizang Railway, connected the heartbeats of the two regions. When children exchanged more than just cards and families valued more than just promises, that was when ethnic unity truly took root in their hearts. The seeds sown during this gathering in Beijing would eventually blossom across both the snow-capped plateau and the rich lands of the capital.
