2025 Summer Children’s Care—2025 Minmeng Summer Science Camp Successfully Concludes
Date:2025-9-1 16:45:53 Views:The “2025 Minmeng Summer Science Camp,” jointly organized by the Beijing Committee of the China Democratic League (Minmeng) and the Beijing Women’s Federation (BWF), recently concluded in Beijing. As a key practical platform for summer childcare services, the camp adopted an “online + offline” dual-track model, attracting over 1,500 youth representatives from Beijing, Bijie in Guizhou, Guangzong in Hebei, Hotan in Xinjiang, and other regions. Through a series of science popularization and research activities spanning the summer, the camp offered children an engaging and enlightening scientific journey, effectively supporting their holistic development.
The activities adopted a three-dimensional approach of visiting, learning, and practicing, integrating care into every stage of scientific exploration, enabling scientific knowledge to extend beyond books and become part of everyday life. At the camp, children visited the Beijing Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center, where they nurtured the concept of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature through life-protection stories. They strolled through the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests at the Temple of Heaven, where they experienced the integration of traditional culture and modern knowledge while exploring the scientific wisdom of ancient architecture. They also attended a series of science lectures in fields including biology, artificial intelligence, natural history, astronomy, acoustics, and literature, enriching their scientific spirit while absorbing cutting-edge knowledge.
Several experts and scholars participated in the program as research mentors. Notably, at the closing ceremony, Dr. Zhang Deliang, an over-80-year-old scientist from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a successor of Qian Xuesen—one of the founding figures of China’s “Two Bombs, One Satellite” program—delivered a lecture on the spirit of the Qian Xuesen era. He inspired young participants to take scientists as role models and bravely shoulder the responsibilities of their generation. Many children were deeply inspired, and the venue erupted in applause.
The Science Camp has been held for four consecutive years, focusing on the summer children’s care services organized by the Beijing Women’s Federation. Through its dual-track approach of “science education + growth care,” the camp offers a series of science lectures and practical activities that align with the developmental needs of young people. Covering themes such as natural sciences, health care, disaster prevention and mitigation, and traditional culture, the camp has impacted tens of thousands of young people. In the future, BWF will continue working closely with Minmeng to further advance science popularization, offering more young people a nurturing platform to pursue their scientific dreams while ensuring they are guided by both care and wisdom as they grow.
