On the morning of September 3, a grand ceremony was held at Tiananmen Square in Beijing to mark the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese Peoples War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the People’s Republic of China, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, delivered an important address and reviewed the armed forces on parade.

Remember history, honor the martyrs, cherish peace, and build the future. The China Victory Day Parade on September 3, which drew global attention, stood as a powerful demonstration of national strength and military power. It was also a radiant expression of the national spirit and, above all, a solemn pledge by the Chinese people to safeguard peace for generations to come. To mobilize the strength of women in the capital, the Beijing Women’s Federation organized more than 200 female representatives, including March 8th Red-Banner Holders, Women Volunteers, and Model Families. They attended the event to witness history firsthand and share in the deep patriotic sentiments it inspired.

Formations embodying historical legacy and heroic spirit marched past the reviewing platform, while state-of-the-art equipment symbolizing the nation’s comprehensive strength lined the grand avenue. A timeless pride surged in the hearts of all the representatives. Overwhelmed with passion and tears, they were enveloped in an unparalleled sense of awe and honor.

Voices of women representatives are echoes of the times

Special Guest from Taiwan

Ding Wenyun (Associate Chief Physician, Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences): “When we sang the Yellow River Cantata, I deeply felt that only a strong motherland can protect its people and safeguard its territory. The parade transformed the abstract concepts of nation and people into something tangible and real, stirring pride in every Chinese heart. I am more convinced than ever that studying, working, and settling in Beijing is the right path for me. In the future, I hope to serve as a bridge, fostering strong connections between people on both sides of the Strait. I also look forward to seeing more Taiwan-born doctors who are devoted to the health of our people contributing their expertise and passion to advance medicine and public health in our motherland.”

March 8th Red-Banner Holder Representative

Zhao Huijie (Professor, Institute of Artificial Intelligence, Beihang University): “Seeing advanced equipment such as hypersonic systems, air-defense and missile-interception platforms, and strategic missiles filled me with a profound sense of mission and pride as a female scientist. Breakthroughs in cutting-edge core technologies are the result of countless researchers’ perseverance in independent innovation. Inspired by the indomitable spirit of our martyrs, we must continue striving at the forefront of science and technology. We must also contribute the wisdom and strength of women to building a technologically advanced military and a powerful nation.”

Wang Xiaohui (Director, Student Activity Management Center, Xicheng District): “In this dialogue spanning eighty years of history, I felt deeply the monumental transformation of the Chinese nation—from standing up to achieving prosperity to growing strong. This parade was not only a display of national power and military might but also a tribute to history, a pledge for peace, and a call to the future! Remember history, cherish peace! Salute the heroes, and bless our motherland! May the world forever bask in the light of peace!”

Representative of New-Era Rural Women

Zhao Limei (General Manager, Beijing Yexin Technology Development Co., Ltd.): “As the doves of peace soared into the blue sky, my mind was filled with visions of revolutionary base areas and the vitality of remote villages. The foundation of victory in the War of Resistance lay in the will of the people. Likewise, the key to rural revitalization in the new era lies in perseverance and hard work. Only when a nation prospers and society remains stable can the dream of rural development truly take root. I will carry this powerful inspiration back home. I will use new technologies and innovative models to guide beekeepers toward shared growth and prosperity."

Representative from the “Three New” Sectors

Wen Tianshu (Director of Media Policy, iQIYI): “As I watched the magnificent procession, I was struck by the collective conviction that ‘perseverance leads to victory.’ This resonated deeply with our own struggles as entrepreneurs in emerging fields. We strive amid the surging tide of the new economy, holding firm to our goals and advancing together. The new era has provided us with an unprecedented platform for endeavor. With it comes the responsibility to contribute to the broader development agenda. We must plan and produce more high-quality, integrated media products and artistic works. At the same time, we should demonstrate the commitment of women in new industries through contributions to industrial upgrading, technological innovation, and social good.”

Representative of Model Families

Hou Ning (General Manager, Beijing National Library Hotel Management Co., Ltd.): “Pride, awe, and responsibility—these were the deepest emotions I felt at the parade, an experience that seemed like a baptism of the soul. The military parade vividly showcased the remarkable achievements of our national defense and armed forces. It also reflected our country’s comprehensive strength and international standing. A strong nation ensures the stability of millions of families. As the backbone of family building, we have a duty to instill loyalty, perseverance, dedication, and resilience in the hearts of the next generation, teaching them that a happy life is hard-earned. We must also nurture the roots of patriotism and devotion to family so that these values endure through the ages.”

This parade of extraordinary significance was not only a reflection on history and a demonstration of strength but also a vision for the future. As the echoes of the grand ceremony merged with the city skyline, the surging emotions transformed into a powerful force for progress. Women representatives will continue to shoulder significant responsibilities and strive with determination in their respective fields. The Beijing Women’s Federation will unite and guide women and families to draw inspiration from the great spirit of the War of Resistance, foster deep-rooted patriotism, and strengthen their sense of mission. They will also contribute the wisdom and power of women in the capital to the cause of building a strong nation and achieving national rejuvenation.
