To fully implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and its subsequent plenary sessions, and to deeply study and apply the important directives on social work by General Secretary Xi Jinping, Beijing has launched a series of initiatives in accordance with the All-China Women’s Federation’s “Notice on Deepening 2025 Women Volunteers’ Services for the Elderly and Children” and the Beijing Municipal Society Work Department’s “Guidelines for the 2025 International Volunteer Day (‘12.5’) Themed Activities.” These efforts aim to continuously expand the “Learn from Lei Feng” volunteer service teams, consolidate community service work, showcase the achievements of women volunteers, and foster a strong social atmosphere of honoring volunteers. By promoting the spirit of volunteerism, the activities strive to inspire and enhance social vitality.

In this context, the Beijing Women’s Federation hosted the Volunteer Appreciation Week from November 29, 2025, through International Volunteer Day on December 5, 2025. The event was organized by the Beijing Women’s Federation, the Municipal Society Work Department, the Beijing Committee of the Communist Youth League, and the Beijing Volunteer Service Federation. Supporting organizers included district women’s federations, the Beijing Youlian Marriage and Family Counseling Center, and the Beijing Hongdie Home Public Welfare Volunteer Service Center, among other municipal and district social organizations.

The Volunteer Appreciation Week launched on the afternoon of November 29 at the Beijing Youth Activity Center auditorium. During the ceremony, volunteers performed their self-produced artistic programs, receiving enthusiastic applause from the audience. Particularly moving was the children’s play Little Tadpoles Looking for Their Mom, performed by visually impaired children and their mothers, which moved many audience members to tears. During the awards segment, attending leaders presented honorary certificates to recipients, who were recommended by the Beijing Women’s Federation, of the 2024 Capital Volunteer Service “Four 100s” Awards. Commemorative certificates were awarded to works selected for the 2024 Beijing Women’s Federation “Women Volunteers Story Collection,” with some short videos from the collection being screened. Additionally, distinctive women’s volunteer service activities from various districts were showcased in an exhibition area outside the venue.

Simultaneously with the launch event, a warm and pleasant volunteer appreciation activity—a social networking event—was held at the Sunken Plaza of Beijing Youth Palace. Sixty young men and women, all formally registered volunteers on the “Volunteer Beijing” platform, participated. Through self-introductions and interactive games, thirteen pairs of young men and women successfully connected on-site, marking a wonderful beginning to new friendships.
