On December 5, the “Family Affair Problem-Solvers” Story Sharing and Anti-Domestic Violence Awareness Event for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei (Jing-Jin-Ji for short) region was held in Langfang City, Hebei Province. The event was jointly hosted by the Beijing Women’s Federation, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Justice, the Tianjin Women’s Federation, the Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Justice, the Hebei Women’s Federation, and the Hebei Provincial Department of Justice; and was organized by the Langfang Women’s Federation and Langfang Municipal Bureau of Justice. The event adopted a “story sharing + legal publicity + interactive legal education” approach, aiming to strengthen the collaborative mechanism for family affair mediation across the three regions, integrate the prevention and resolution work of marital and family disputes into grassroots governance, and promote social harmony and stability through family well-being of the people.

During the event, the family affair problem-solvers (commonly: marital & family disputes mediators, or mediators) from Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei shared those heartwarming mediation stories that happened in their local neighborhoods, highlighting the mediators’ dedication and wisdom, while promoting the value of family harmony. Among them, Liu Xinyan, a mediator from the Hengshui Municipal People's Mediation Committee for Marriage and Family Disputes in Hebei Province, recounted how she applied her psychological knowledge and a combination of empathy, reason, and law to resolve family conflicts, helping families restore warmth and closeness. Zhang Yu, from the Daxing District Women’s Federation in Beijing, recounted how her professional expertise, paired with compassionate support, helped bridge family gaps. Wang Jing, a mediator from Heping District, Tianjin, narrated real cases in which she used her mediation skills to safeguard the well-being of elderly family members. Shang Zhenzhen, a mediator from Mulan Town, Wen’an County, Langfang, fondly recalled how she used hands-on engagement and genuine care to gain trust and promptly resolve marital and family conflicts. Their sincere storytelling moved the audience, earning repeated rounds of applause.

The event featured law-themed performances that incorporated traditional culture, including a Ping Opera “Promoting New Social Norms”, a poetry recital “Protect Our Rights Together, Like Blooming Magnolias, and a Jingdong drum performance Mediator Mulan Resolves Family Disputes Proficiently”, etc., showcasing women’s contribution to society. Subsequently, interactive legal knowledge quizzes energized the audience, fostering active participation and enhancing awareness of domestic violence prevention and rights protection in a cheerful atmosphere. The event reached its peak with a choral performance by women volunteer representatives, conveying a shared vision of building harmonious families and creating happy lives together.

At the outdoor legal awareness fair, crowds gathered before the “Zero Tolerance for Domestic Violence” interactive wall, where more than 100 participants signed pledges to oppose domestic violence and promote safe families. The legal consultation zone brought together staff from the “12338” Women’s Rights Protection Service Center, professional officials from the system of public security, courts, procuratorates and judicial administration, civil affairs departments, and agriculture and rural affairs departments, as well as lawyers and psychological counselors. They distributed legal materials and provided on-site answers to questions on marriage, family, and domestic violence issues. At the quiz box, the legal knowledge Q&A further enhanced participants’ legal literacy and awareness of defending their rights.

This event not only showcased the professional expertise and dedication of marital and family dispute mediation teams across Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei, but also demonstrated the collaborative efforts of women’s federations and judicial authorities in pooling resources to support grassroots social governance. The three regions will continue to strengthen coordination and deepen efforts in preventing and resolving marital and family disputes, integrating the rule of law with compassionate support to uphold family harmony and promote social stability.

The event was attended by over 400 participants, including representatives from the women’s federations, judicial authorities, and marital and family mediators from Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei; heads and directors of rights and interests departments from various municipal women’s federations in Hebei; officials from 13 municipal departments, like the Justice Bureau, in Langfang; staff from the “12338” Women’s Rights Protection Service Center; members of the “Mulan Appointment” - Hebei Women’s Legal Advocacy Team; women volunteers for rights protection; women legal awareness promoters; and community women representatives.
