On July 24, the semifinals of the 2026 Beijing Women’s Domestic Service Vocational Skills Competition were successfully held. Following rigorous preliminary rounds, 51 outstanding female domestic workers from across Beijing advanced to the semifinals, demonstrating exceptional skills and professional expertise as they competed for higher honors.

Lei Xiaoning, Member of the Leading Party Members’ Group and Vice President of the Beijing Women’s Federation, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. She noted that domestic workers are not merely service providers, but architects of better lives. She emphasized that the competition should serve as an important platform for establishing a clear career advancement pathway—from basic household chores to specialized skills, and ultimately to professional housekeeping—ensuring domestic services continue to meet the growing demand of Beijing families for high-quality domestic services.

Following the opening ceremony, practical skills competitions and comprehensive competency assessments were conducted simultaneously across six categories. Designed to mirror real-life domestic service scenarios, the semifinal tasks focused on evaluating participants’ hands-on skills, emergency response capabilities, and human-centered service standards. The evaluation criteria were more comprehensive, the standards more refined, and the scenarios more closely aligned with everyday household needs.

Throughout the competition, participants demonstrated great energy, standardized operating procedures, and seamless execution. In maternal and infant care, contestants expertly handled postpartum recovery guidance, infant care, and early childhood development interaction. In home organization and storage, they optimized household layouts, balancing functionality with aesthetic appeal. In domestic management, participants responded calmly to various simulated emergencies, demonstrating strong coordination and management capabilities. Across all events, contestants showcased the capital’s female domestic workforce as highly skilled professionals who deliver caring services with exemplary standards.

Following a rigorous, standardized, and impartial evaluation process, first, second, and third prizes, along with awards for outstanding participants, were presented in each category. The competition also honored enterprises and organizations with “Outstanding Organization Awards” for their exceptional performance in organizing and supporting the event. Representatives from the Beijing Women’s Federation, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security, Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform, Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau, Beijing Federation of Trade Unions, and other co-organizers presented the awards to the winners.

The competition provided a valuable platform for domestic workers to exchange skills, showcase their expertise, and learn from one another. It further expanded career advancement opportunities within the domestic service industry and strengthened the brand of women’s domestic service in Beijing.
