To gain an in-depth understanding of the latest developments in cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies, broaden their digital horizons, and explore practical pathways for leveraging digital intelligence to advance women and children’s programs in the capital, a delegation from the Beijing Women’s Federation visited Haidian District on the afternoon of August 24 for an on-site collective study session on artificial intelligence. The delegation was led by Zhou Zhijun, Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group and President of the Beijing Women’s Federation, and joined by Lei Xiaoning, Member of the Leading Party Members’ Group and Vice President; Zhang Ningyu, Vice President; heads of the federation’s departments, offices, and affiliated public institutions; representatives of young officials; and all staff from the Beijing Women’s Development Research Center.

At Zhongguancun Science City City Brain Co., Ltd., the delegation visited the City Brain Exhibition and Experience Center. They observed on-site applications of AI agents, and gained firsthand insights into digital intelligence initiatives in urban governance, integrated government services, and smart healthcare. During a subsequent symposium, discussions centered on the application of large AI models in government affairs, pathways for digital governance at the grassroots level, and the digital intelligence development of the Smart Women’s Federation.

At the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), the delegation visited the academy’s history museum, brain-computer interface exhibition hall, and SparkLink Network platform. They gained an in-depth understanding of its high-level think-tank research and technological innovations in AI, the industrial internet, and the digital economy. In follow-up discussions, participants systematically reviewed CAICT’s research foundation and innovative practices in frontier fields such as big data and artificial intelligence. Aligning with the federation’s mandate, they exchanged views on digital services for women and children, digital intelligence development in women’s and children’s health and family life, as well as women’s development and enhancement of their digital literacy.

This thematic on-site study session provided officials with a close-up view of the latest developments in the AI industry and a tangible appreciation of how digital technologies are transforming social governance and public services, further inspiring new ideas for digital empowerment of women’s federations. Participants expressed their commitment to translating what they learned into tangible results in performing their duties. They will leverage their roles within the federation to proactively engage with cutting-edge digital technologies and explore AI applications in women’s rights protection, family education, values and traditions, and women’s innovation and entrepreneurship. Through these efforts, they aim to continuously advance the development of the Smart Women’s Federation, leveraging digital intelligence to drive the high-quality development of women and children’s programs in Beijing.
