Beijing's office for evaluating gender equality implications in policies and regulations organizes an online meeting to report on its work.

Beijing's office responsible for evaluating gender equality implications in policies and regulations held a meeting to report on its work achievements made in 2020 on November 5 through video link.

Liu Ling, deputy director of the office, who also serves as Executive Deputy Director of Beijing Municipal Working Committee on Children and Women and inspector of the Beijing Women's Federation, attended the meeting. Cadres from the 1working committees on children and women of 16 districts were present.

The office has conducted evaluations of gender equality implications in documents of the municipal government for three consecutive years and made practical achievements. Professor Sun Xiaomei of China Women's University (CWU) reported on the previous work on behalf of the experts' team for evaluation, summarized existing problems and made a plan for the next step. This year's evaluation work covered wider scope and field, and included 100 village regulations that have been selected as demonstration regulations.

Liu fully affirmed the work of experts and believes that the evaluation of government documents has played a role in safeguarding women's legitimate rights and interests at the source. Liu spoke highly of the CWU evaluation team, praising them for making standard high-quality evaluation, and focusing on targeted content. Focusing on key work in the future, Liu asked relevant offices to raise awareness of the work of evaluating gender equality implications, coordinate and promote various tasks, enhance work capabilities, and put their work into practice.
