Beijing Women's Federation

On March 2, Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) held an activity at Beijing Radio & Television Station with the theme "women following the Party, striving on new journey" on the occasion of celebrating International Women's Day. The purpose was to display the flourishing development of women's work and the uplifting spirit of women from all walks of life in the capital, unite and lead all women to strive for the great cause, advocate good social norms, and pursue their dreams.

 

Zhang Yajun, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and President of the BWF, officials from the Publicity Department and the Working Committee for Education of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and from other units where winners of the National March 8th Red-banner Holders and Collectives awards, as well as members of the Leading Party Members' Group and bureau-level officials of the BWF, and heads of district-level women's federations, attended the event.

 

 

Representatives of women from all walks of life attend the activity.

 

The activity consisted of three chapters on the themes Loyalty and Achievements, Climbing and Transcending, and Dedication to the People. With the mission and development of women in the capital under the leadership of the Party as the main line, nine touching stories of representatives of the National March 8th Red-banner Holders and Collectives and women workers in the capital were presented through on-site interviews, presentations, poetry recitations, a chorus and even a sitcom.

The chapter Loyalty and Achievements opened with a video about Li Huanying, a National March 8th Red-banner Holder, who is still hale and hearty at the age of 100 and struggles on the front line of leprosy prevention and treatment research. Li dedicates her life to the cause of improving people's health; Sun Qiwei, also a National March 8th Red-banner Holder, shared her story of creating a course for the Party history learning and education. The state guest service team of the National Convention Center, as a National March 8th Red-banner Collective, told their story of providing high-quality services for the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games; and Liu Li, named one of the "most beautiful women workers in the capital," talked about her work of the research and development of athletes' outfits to help improve the level of China's national teams in winter sports.

 

The whole chapter showed women's loyalty to the Party and their outstanding contributions in various fields through the participation of the events marking the centenary of the Party, the Party history learning and education campaign, and the services for the organization of Winter Olympics.

The programs, including a speech and two songs, in the chapter Climbing and Transcending showed that the women science and technology workers in the capital, including Duan Huiling, a National March 8th Red-banner Holder, the navigation, guidance and control innovation team of Beijing Institute of Technology — a National March 8th Red-banner Collective, and the Beijing Women's Association for Science and Technology, have actively implemented the Women’s Actions in Scientific and Technological Innovation Beijing Action and integrated their pursuit of science into the practice of building a strong nation in science and technology. The chapter showed that women in the capital have made outstanding contributions and achievements in frontier areas of science and technology, which demonstrate the determination of women in the new era to climb to the top and the boldness of continuous self-transcendence.

 

 

Participants and performers in the chapter Dedication to the People

 

The chapter Dedication to the People showed that women from all walks of life adhere to the people-centered principle, dedicate themselves in their respective positions, serve the people, and contribute to the high-quality development of the capital and the wellbeing of the people. An interview was conducted live with a production team from Beijing Radio & Television Station and a sitcom was staged by the coordination and supervision department of Beijing Citizens' Hotline Service Center. Both the teams are National March 8th Red-banner Collectives.

The activity came to an end with the song Together for the Future. Women in the capital will take the success of the Beijing Winter Olympics as an opportunity, respond to the call of the times, transform the great enthusiasm inspired by the Beijing Winter Olympics into a powerful forces, innovate for further achievements, contribute to the high-quality development of the capital in the new era, and prepare for the 20th National Congress of the CPC with practical action.
