Beijing Women's Federation

Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) held a meeting on women's development virtually on April 14 to review work in 2021 and deploy work for 2022. Zhou Jing, first-level inspector of the BWF, delivered a speech at the main venue. Over 50 people, including presidents and directors of women’s development departments of 16 district-level women's federations attended the meeting online.

At the meeting, BWF's work on promoting women’s development in 2021 was summed up from six aspects: Implementing the Women's Action for Scientific and Technological Innovation Campaign; promoting series activities of encouraging women to make achievements at their posts; promoting the Women's Action for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and Women's Action for Rural Vitalization; cooperating to boost regional cooperation and development and improving women's health.

According to the meeting, in 2022, the overarching approach for the work on promoting women’s development is: Following the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, fully implementing the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and all plenary sessions of the 19th Party Central Committee, the Central Economic Work Conference, and General Secretary Xi Jinping's expositions on women's and Beijing's development, based on the new development stage and following the new development philosophy, targeting on the goal of women's high-quality development in the capital and serving the overall situation of the Party and State, explore and try effective working mechanisms, unite women's wisdom and strength to prepare for the Party’s 20th National Congress and the 13th Beijing Municipal Party Congress.

The meeting put forward specific requirements on work in 2022: to steer correct direction and lead women to follow the Party's leadership by carrying forward the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Party Central Committee, strengthening women's ideological and political work, and driving the campaign of building advanced women’s teams in all industries; to encourage women to make meritorious deeds in a new journey by promoting the Women's Action for Scientific and Technological and Innovation and Women's Action for Rural Vitalization, and facilitating women's employment and entrepreneurship to give full play to women's role of "holding up half of the sky" in the high-quality economic and social development; and to improve women's sense of well-being while offering services to women, improving their health and doing a good job in support the coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

Officials from 16 district-level women's federations shared their experience and advice on technological innovation, honoring outstanding women workers, entrepreneurship and employment, women's health, and leveraging the role of associations for women entrepreneurs and craftswomen.

In her speech, Zhou fully affirmed the capital's achievements in promoting women's development last year. She underlined three aspects for the following work, which are firmly grasping the correct direction of work on women's development; highlighting the key points of guiding and assisting women to make achievements in various fields; focusing on planning work based on the overall situation, and effectively improving the working ability.
