Women's Federations in Full Swing to Aid Beijing's COVID-19 Fight

The capital city has reported dozens of locally transmitted COVID-19 cases every day since April 22. As of the afternoon of April 28, there were five high-risk areas and 19 medium-risk areas for the contagious disease.
During the morning rush hour of April 28, several fast-track channels were set up at a nucleic acid testing site for students heading for schools and pregnant and lying-in women in the No. 2 Muxiyuan Residential Community of East Tiejiangying sub-district in Fengtai District.
Staff workers from the sub-district office said that they learned from previous nucleic acid testing arrangements and that their refined measures earned understanding and support from other people waiting for their turn to take nucleic acid testing.
The women's federation of Daxing District has taken into account the special demands of pregnant and lying-in women in the revision of a healthcare guideline in response to the COVID-19 epidemic. It has issued a circular to 20 township-level women's federations and 618 village-level women's federations, calling on them to fulfill their obligations in epidemic control and prevention, encourage women and their families to remain optimistic, and pay close attention to the actual needs of special groups, which include pregnant and lying-in women, underprivileged women and children, and the elderly.
Women's federations in Tongzhou District has arranged for 23 executive members and a special group comprised of 25 members to help keep track of the population flow, the delivery of daily necessities and other supplies, and respond to questions from residents living in closed-off management and restrictive control areas in Tongyun sub-district.
According to Tongzhou Women's Federation, an emergency plan has been in place to ensure the access to medical services for pregnant and lying-in women, newborns, the elderly and people with disabilities and critical diseases.
A total of 3,934 grassroots women’s federation workers and 5,783 women volunteers in Tongzhou have stood shoulder-to-shoulder in epidemic control and prevention.
The women's federation of the Wangjing Sub-district in Chaoyang District has arranged for its executive members, women entrepreneurs and social organizations to take part in volunteer activities to aid in the fight against COVID-19.
