According to the Family Education Promotion Law of the People's Republic of China that took effect on January 1, 2022, the week of the International Day of Families (May 15 of every year) is observed as the National Family Education Promotion Week.

The general office of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) and the Ministry of Education (MOE) have launched the first Family Education Promotion Week in China to further implement Chinese President Xi Jinping's important instructions on the building of family, family education and family traditions.

Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) will organize eight family education guidance theme activities, as an effort to further implement the law on family education promotion, highlight the fundamental mission of fostering virtue through education, support parents educating their children in a proper way, and make the society more aware of the importance of family education.

The eight activities are described briefly below.

• Series Online Courses

Focusing on the hot topics and social concerns relating to family education, especially the elaboration of the family education promotion law and children's physical and mental health, a series live broadcast courses will be organized. Experts in the field of family education will be invited to give lectures. Liu Zhengkui, a researcher with the Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, on May 10 gave the first class of the series, with the theme “how to adjust mental state when studying at home."

2. Public Lecture

Bian Yufang, director of the Institute of Mental Health and Education of Beijing Normal University, Li Mingxin, President of Beijing Elementary School, Qi Xin, director of the Center for Exhibition and Education of China Science and Technology Museum, and Wang Yuanzhuo, representative of "national most beautiful families" and dean of the Big Data Academy of the University of Science and Technology of China, will gather on May 13 to explore the issues such as ideal education, responsibilities of parents on family education and parent-school-society cooperative education mechanism.

3. "Most Beautiful Families Together to the Future" Family Story-sharing Activity

Representatives of the "most beautiful families" in the capital will be invited on May 15, the International Day of Families, to share their fine family traditions and good family education concepts. The organizers will also produce and broadcast a video on family and country, and give a lecture to promote positive energies and good family traditions such as revolutionary traditions.

4. Collection of Works on Positive Family Traditions

The BWF will call upon every family to uphold honesty and uprightness as family traditions and collect themed messages and literary works, promoting the virtue of honesty and uprightness among families in Beijing through touching stories.

5. Family Education Story Collection and Presentation

The BWF will collect stories of families across the city to explore the responsibilities of parents in family education and share scientific parenting methods. The presentations will include an article, a parent-child activity video and photos on children’s growth, centering on law-based parenting, inter-generational parenting and companionship.

6. Family Sports Projects Collection

Sports that are easy and interesting for parents and children to participate in will be widely collected and displayed to promote the spirit of the Beijing Winter Olympics, foster family harmony, and help children grow up in an all-round and healthy way.

7. Establishing Family School

A family development and education practice base will be established, in cooperation with the Beijing Women and Children Service Center and the Chaoyang Community College, for practice and research, guidance, services, personnel training, resource development, communication and promotion. The base will explore the full-life-cycle family service model, and promote the construction of family-school-society cooperative education mechanism.

8. Special Family Education Services during Anti-epidemic Period

On the regular basis of epidemic prevention and control, series online courses are offered through the "1+X" online family education service platform and short video platforms, and one-to-one personalized counseling and guidance services are provided via the hotline 12338.
