On May 15, the International Day of Families, an online lecture activity, with the theme "Most Beautiful Families Together for a Shared Future," was organized by the Beijing Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the organization and publicity departments of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, Beijing Office for Guiding Cultural and Ethical Progress, Beijing Municipal Education Commission, and Beijing Women's Federation.

 

Three representatives of the "capital’s most beautiful families,” who work in different fields but contributed to the smooth progress of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games, gave speeches to share their stories about how they promoted good family education and family traditions.

 

 

Hou Kun, a representative of the "capital’s most beautiful families,” gives a speech.

 

The family of Hou Kun and Wu Jingyu have contributed their youth to the Olympic movement in China, and the growth of their daughter witnessed the development of Beijing as the world's first city to host both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games. Known as the first person to go on an Olympic themed around-the-world tour in China, Hou spent eight years visiting 47 Olympic cities and sharing the story of China to the world throughout his journey. Wu is the first taekwondo Grand Slam winner in the world and a Guinness World Record holder. "We will continue to promote the spirit of the Beijing Winter Olympics and the capital's families, carrying on the glory of the Olympic host city," Hou said.

Tang Xiuli, a leader of the research and development center at Beijing Materials Handling Research Institute Co., Ltd., works with her teammates to help the country achieve green manufacturing and environmental protection goals. The company also served as a technology provider of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games. Tang's husband Feng Hui is also a scientific researcher. The couple help each other forward and make progress together in their work. They pay close attention to their children's moral education, promote the revolutionary spirit in their family, and teach children to be diligent and warm-hearted. They nourish their children with love.

Zhang Chunning is a policewoman and undertook security work during the Beijing Winter Olympic Games. Her husband, Zhao Jialin, is the director of the general editorial office of search engine ChinaSo, who was responsible for coordinating the company's coverage of the Games. Their daughter Zhao Qingxin was selected as a student representative to participate in the opening ceremony of the Games. As a family, they became closer with one another for working together for the splendid Beijing Winter Olympic Games.

During the activity, a collection of works on good family traditions was launched. The collection will focus on themed messages, and literary works to promote the virtue of integrity among families in Beijing through touching stories. The organizers also made a proposal, calling on all families in Beijing to highlight moral education and the virtue of integrity and thrift.

 

A collection of 10 outdoor sports that are easy and interesting for parents and children to participate in was initiated during the activity, which will be displayed to promote the spirit of the Beijing Winter Olympics, foster family harmony and help children grow up in an all-round and healthy way.

 

The Beijing Family School is established.

 

In addition, a family development and education practice base was announced to open during the activity. In cooperation with the Beijing Women and Children Service Center and the Chaoyang Community College, the base will explore the full-life-cycle family service model, and promote the construction of family-school-society cooperative education mechanism. It will provide families with comprehensive guidance and integrated services on family education, parenting counseling, and family traditions cultivation.
