The epidemic control and prevention work in Beijing is at a critical stage at present. The epidemic situation is controllable overall and the city will realize the target of dynamic zero-COVID in a short period of time. Beijing will accelerate its epidemiological investigations and complete centralized quarantine work swiftly to contain the spread of COVID-19 at the community level. Faster action and stricter measures are urged to cut transmission. Family is considered as the smallest unit but the strongest base of the citywide efforts to win the battle against the COVID-19 epidemic. Beijing Women's Federation hereby issues the following proposals to families in the capital.

Families should consciously abide by the regulations on epidemic prevention and control in Beijing. Everyone should take nucleic acid tests on a regular basis, monitor body temperature and show health code before entering the public places, and cooperate with epidemiological investigation. Everyone should be aware that protecting against COVID-19 remains a top priority and take routine epidemic prevention measures such as wearing a mask, keeping hand clean and ventilating a room. Staying at home is an effort to fight with the virus. Step out only if it's necessary; don't go out for entertainment, get-together and visiting friends and relatives.

Model families at all levels in the capital should give full play to their leading role, and take the lead in observing epidemic prevention and control regulations. They should set an example in strictly implementing home quarantine and practicing a civilized and healthy lifestyle, in an effort to encourage more families to contribute to epidemic prevention and control in the capital. Solidarity and mutual assistance among neighbors and the volunteer spirit of dedication, friendship, mutual assistance and progress should be promoted, to create a loving community of mutual help in which the needs of residents can be taken into account.

Families are supposed to fulfill the main responsibility of family education and help children prosper in a high quality way. Taking the fight against the epidemic as a vivid teaching material for family education, parents should tell children the stories of people in the nationwide anti-COVID battle, to cultivate children's love for family and country. The implementation of the law on family education promotion should highlight the fundamental mission of fostering virtue through education and support parents educating their children in a scientific way. Considering the fact that children study at home, parents need to adjust their children's physical and mental health, accompany their children to do parent-child reading, housework and exercise at home, to ensure that children thrive under the protection of family, community and school.

As International Children's Day is approaching, families should take this opportunity to take an active part in online activities through essays and speeches, paintings, music and sports and other forms, in a bid to guide children to establish the ideal of contributing to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

A country is made up of tens of thousands of families. Let us work together to prevent and control the epidemic at the family-based level, resolutely contain the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic, and secure the hard-won results of the capital's epidemic prevention and control.
