Activities Held Across Beijing to Mark Int'l Children's Day

Dongcheng District
Dongcheng Women's Federation held a live-streamed activity to invite children and teenagers to virtually visit local museums on June 1. The federation organized a series of activities to give care to children in need, which included offering a grant of 16,000 yuan (US$ 2,424) to 16 outstanding students from impoverished families and donating books and stationery worth over 24,000 yuan (US$ 3,636) to kids living in closed-off management and restrictive control areas. The federation also provided 25 sets of safety seats to the families of health workers as part of its children’s safety promotion campaign. The federation, in collaboration with the local health department, offered safety and health advice to local pregnant and lying-in women in a letter published on its WeChat account, and it announced the specific locations of child-friendly activity areas in Dongcheng. It strengthened guidance and services through online classes to help families educate children during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Xicheng District

Xicheng Women's Federation distributed financial assistance to 27 children from impoverished families, launched theme activities in celebration of International Children's Day, and promoted the district’s outlines for the development of women and children in public places.
Chaoyang District
Chaoyang Women's Federation has organized an activity to collect local children’s greetings and expectations for the upcoming 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Upon the arrival of Dragon Boat Festival, which this year fell on June 3, the federation held an activity during which education expert Li Yiman and handiwork expert Tang Lier gave online classes on knowledge and skills of making handicrafts related to the Dragon Boat Festival. The federation also collaborated with the district’s association for promoting women and children's social services to visit children in local welfare houses and send them necessities and stationery.
Haidian District
Haidian Women's Federation kicked off a children’s reading skills contest and held an online class on fostering reading interest among teenagers. It designed and produced a roadmap for parents to take their children to visit patriotic education bases, memorial halls and museums, and it worked with Beijing Radio and Television Station to organize a campaign of collecting and exhibiting paintings of family photos. The federation also offered assistance to girls from impoverished families in Haidian via the Spring Bud project.
Fengtai District
Fengtai Women's Federation has launched campaigns to collect children's anti-COVID artistic works and parent-child reading videos, produced children's music videos in collaboration with the Fengtai Family Education Guidance and Services Center for Primary and Middle School Students, and worked with the district’s people's procuratorate to hold an online activity to promote knowledge about legal rights protection ahead of International Children's Day.
Shijingshan District
Shijingshan Women's Federation held activities to show children’s actions of following the Party and instruct children on the making of traditional Chinese medicine sachet bags and dragon boats in a move to raise their cultural confidence.
Mentougou District
Mentougou Women's Federation convened an online parent-child reading activity, organized 85 charity-minded women to knit sweaters for impoverished children in Hotan of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region through the Heng’ai Action charitable project, and extended financial assistance worth about 154,700 yuan (US$ 23,439) to 189 girls from poverty-hit families in Mentougou via the Spring Bud charitable project.
