The awards ceremony of the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Children's Painting Contest is held at the China National Children's Center (CNCC) in Beijing.

The awards ceremony of the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Children's Painting Contest was held at China National Children's Center (CNCC) in Beijing on August 19. Zhong Jin, Executive Vice-Chairperson of the Beijing Women's Association for Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Compatriots and Overseas Chinese, presided over the awards ceremony.

In her speech, Sun Zhaoping, an inspector of the Beijing Women's Federation (BWF), said that the contest was launched by women's organizations in Beijing, Hong Kong and Macao to implement the spirit of the congratulatory letter by Chinese President Xi Jinping, also General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, to the CNCC on the occasion of its 40th anniversary. Sun noted that the painting contest has created a platform that integrates arts and technology and facilitates communications among children and their families from the three regions and a platform that rallies strength of women’s organizations and social forces. She hoped that women’s organizations in the three regions will continue to play their unique role in promoting the solidarity of the Chinese people at home and abroad in the future.

Noting that children are the future of the country, Pansy Ho Chiu-king, Chairperson of the Beijing Women's Association for Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Compatriots and Overseas Chinese, said via video link that the contestants have learned more about each other and depicted their dreams via paintings, and women’s organizations in the three regions have made their contributions to the progress of children’s cause.

Paula Ling Hsião Yun, Vice-Chairperson of the Women's General Association of Macao, said via video link that women and children's organizations in the three regions should strengthen exchanges and cooperation and hold diversified activities to tap the interests and potentials of children and promote the all-around development of women and children’s causes.

Zhang Chun, Dean of the School of Arts at Renmin University of China, said that the painting contest, whose theme was Let Dreams Fly I'm a Future Scientist, has built a platform for children to deepen their understanding of the scientific world through an artistic mind and stimulate their artistic inspiration from a scientific perspective.

The organizing committee received 3,968 entries from children all across Beijing, Hong Kong and Macao in a span of over two months. A review board decided to present the star prize, the first, the second and the third prizes in the categories of teenagers and children to 127 entries.

Winners in the painting contest receive their awards at the ceremony.

On behalf of other contestants, three award winners from Beijing, Hong Kong and Macao shared their feelings being part of the competition .

During the ceremony, some guests held discussions over the role of arts education in promoting healthy growth of children.

The award-winning works were exhibited at the CNCC from August 19 to 21.

Those in attendance of the awards ceremony included Song Wei, an inspector of the ACWF Liaison Department, Zhao Ningkang, an inspector of the United Front Work Department of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and Chan Laiwa, Honorary Chairperson of the Beijing Women's Association for Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Compatriots and Overseas Chinese.
