The honorees included scientific and technological workers in the fields of aerospace and driverless vehicles and those who took part in the design work for the Chinese Winter Olympic delegation's uniforms, guaranteed food security for athletes at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, and supported normal operation of the capital city in the midst of the COVID-19 prevention and control work. They represent millions of women who have fought on the front line of the pandemic response and economic and social development, have striven to set a positive example and endeavored to fulfill their duties in the new era.

In 2020, BWF launched the Capital’s Most Beautiful Women Strivers campaign to select role models among women from all social sectors in a move to promote the guiding principles that underscore the importance of hard work, sacrifice in the pursuit of happiness, success and greatness, and to advocate patriotism. After extensive selection and recommendation by women's federations and relevant government departments, a total of 189 role models have been awarded the honor. They come from diverse social sectors like science and technology, education, culture, public health, communications, taxation and public services, and have played an important role in the COVID-19 prevention and control work, the preparation for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, poverty alleviation, rural revitalization and the improvement of public wellbeing. The campaign has become a good brand for work on women in Beijing and developed into a cradle as well as talent reserve for the development of outstanding women from all social sectors.
