BWF Organizes Training Session for Women Sci-tech Workers

Beijing Women's Federation (BWF), the Beijing Bureau of Talent Work and the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission (the Administrative Commission of Zhongguancun Science Park) jointly held a training session among female scientific and technological workers, from November 30 to December 2. The organizers intended to help trainees thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), act on the policies and decisions made by the CPC Central Committee and the Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPC on talent work, facilitate the building of an international sci-tech innovation hub, advance the campaign of promoting women's participation in sci-tech innovation, and strengthen political guidance and unity among outstanding female sci-tech workers. The three-day training session brought together 50 sci-tech workers from local research institutions, universities, medical institutions and high-tech enterprises. Wei Jiang, Deputy Secretary of the Leading Party Group and Vice-President of the BWF, attended and addressed the opening ceremony of the training event.

Officials from the Beijing Bureau of Talent Work and the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission (the Administrative Commission of Zhongguancun Science Park) presented their reports at the beginning and end of the training session respectively.

The organizers made special arrangements for the training on the study and implementation of the guiding principle of the 20th National Congress of the CPC, focused on ideological and political guidance, met the demand of women sci-tech researchers and took into account the economic and social development of the city. Wang Dongqi, a professor from the Party School of the CPC Central Committee (the National Academy of Governance), gave a lecture on how to better study and implement the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the CPC. Long Guilu, a professor from the Department of Physics at Tsinghua University, talked about frontier technologies in quantum mechanics. Fang Xin, Vice-President of the Third World Organization for Women in Science (TWOWS), shared with attendees about her understanding of the sense of mission and responsibility in the midst of scientific research. Yu Haijiao, Deputy Director-General of the Beijing Bureau of Talent Work, and Zhang Yulei, highlighted the importance of the study and implementation of the guiding principle of the 20th National Congress of the CPC in the endeavor to build Beijing into a talent highland and an international sci-tech innovation center. Yang Pude, Party Secretary of Beijing Huilongguan Hospital, focused on women's pressure management and self-adjustment in his lecture.

During panel discussions, attendees related their own experience to explain how to better make use of personal strengths in the building of an international sci-tech innovation center and in the promotion of sci-tech development in the capital city. Four of them shared their gains and feelings in the participation of the training event.

Participants said that the training session further deepened their understanding and implementation of the guiding principle of the 20th National Congress of the CPC, helped them better grasp the national policies on talents and sci-tech research, learn more about the spirit of scientists, and closely feel the love and care of the Party and the country toward female sci-tech workers. They added that they would integrate academic learning into their future work and make unique contributions to the economic and social development of the capital city and in the improvement of the livelihoods of the people.
