The Beijing Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection, the Beijing Municipal Supervisory Commission, the Organization Department of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Beijing Municipal Office for Cultural and Ethical Progress, the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and the Beijing Women's Federation recently unveiled the list of recommended families of the Looking for the Most Beautiful Families in the Capital campaign in the fourth season of 2022.

A total of 75 role model families, including the families of Hai Yan, Zhang Shuying, Fang Jun and Zhu Pengyi, were added to the list.

The Family of Hai Yan: Devoted to Scientific Research, Improvement of Public Interest

The parents-in-law of Hai Yan are China's first-generation scientists in the design and building of nuclear submarines. Her son, Hai Xingshuo, is a doctoral graduate from Beihang University and is continuing with further education abroad. Inspired by the noble ideals of his grandparents, Hai Xingshuo has resolved to dedicate himself to the development of the country's aerospace science and technology. The family has proactively participated in charitable affairs. They have provided blind children and Tibetan orphans with free music classes, and raised funds for flood-affected people in Dengfeng of central China's Henan province. Hai Xingshuo has donated all his scholarships to disadvantaged children in mountainous areas.

The Family of Zhang Shuying: Setting an Example for Children, Raising them with Scientific Methods

Zhang Shuying and her husband live together with their daughter and her family. As a veteran CPC member, Zhang and her husband have persisted in studying the law on promoting family education, raised children with emphases on revolutionary traditions and guided them to pass down good family traditions with clean conduct. The couple have taken part in community-level charitable activities, setting an example for younger generations.

The Family of Fang Jun: Guardian of the Miyun Reservoir

The family of Fang Jun has participated in the initial construction and follow-up ecological conservation of the Miyun Reservoir, Beijing's major water storage site, for three generations. Fang’s grandfather took part in the construction of the Miyun Reservoir in the 1950s and 1960s. His father was engaged in the observation of the changes of water resources there. He followed in their footstep to work as a water-related law enforcement officer there in 2005, after being discharged from the army. Over the decades, Fang has come up with many constructive proposals on ecological conservation, attended over 300 publicity and education sessions to promote the protection of water resources, and worked with his wife and daughter to support the practices of garbage sorting in the capital city.

The Family of Zhu Pengyi: Safeguarding Public Security for Three Generations

Zhu Pengyi became a police officer in 2011. His father, Zhu Hong, said to him that only by learning to be a honest and reliable person and through fine conduct can one eventually become a competent police officer. It was what Zhu Hong’s father said to Zhu Hong when he first put on his police uniform many years ago. During his participation in the efforts to ensure the successful convening of the 20th CPC National Congress in October 2022, Zhu Pengyi worked meticulously and won high acclaim from the people around him for his outstanding performance. His wife, Wang Ran, granted him with full support and undertook all household chores.

In 2023, the Looking for the Most Beautiful Families in the Capital campaign fully implements the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress and will select a group of role-model families, carry forward positive family traditions and values, and strive to create a harmonious society.

It is expected to continue with the release of a list of role model families per season, unveil a yearly list of 300 role model families and a concurrent list of the top 10 most beautiful families in the capital city. The organizers will make these families’ stories widely known through online and offline means, and promote new socialist family virtues, which stress the love of the country and family, mutual love and assistance, the pursuit of benevolence, and the building of an inclusive society.
