BWF Convenes Meeting among Presidents of District-level Women’s Federations

Zhang Yajun, secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and president of BWF, gave a speech at the conference. During the meeting, Lyu Hui, president of Dongcheng Women's Federation, Wang Xiaoqian, president of Xicheng Women's Federation, Dong Mingyue, president of Fengtai Women's Federation, Xiao Yawen, president of Shunyi Women's Federation, Yan Mei, president of Changping Women's Federation, Ming Li, full-time vice-president of the women's federation at Beijing Institute of Economics and Management, and Huang Liqun, director of the working committee on women of express delivery industry, shared their experience in work.
Noting that 2023 is the first year to comprehensively implement guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and that the 13th National Women's Congress will also be convened this year, the conference said that it is a top priority for women's federations at all levels in the capital city to study, publicize and act on the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress.
Firstly, local women's federations should take a clear-cut political stand and uphold the following actions: strengthen their ideological and political guidance over women, draw women together with Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, acquire a deep understanding of the decisive significance of the establishment of both Comrade Xi Jinping's core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and safeguard the CPC Central Committee's authority and its centralized, unified leadership.
Second, women's federations should intensify its efforts to serve women, get them fully involved in employment, entrepreneurship, sci-tech innovation and rural revitalization, and strive to make higher achievements toward building China into a modern socialist country.
Third, women's federations should continue with their work on family building, advance the implementation of the law on promoting family education, scale up institutional building of family education, deepen caring services to families, and promote core socialist values among families with concrete results.
Fourth, women's federations should serve women and children wholeheartedly, conduct mid-term assessment over the implementation of the plans for women and children's development, push for the building of child-friendly cities, solve their pressing issues with high concern, and further improve social environment for women and children’s all-around development.
Fifth, women's federations should do their utmost to resolve risks in key areas, fulfill political duties in ideological field, and protect women's and children's rights and interests.
Lastly, women's federations should strengthen their political consciousness, become more advanced and better represent the people. They are also expected to strengthen their online presence and endeavor to be connected with the people.
Those in attendance of meeting included senior and middle-level officials of the BWF, presidents of district-level women's federations, and heads of the working committees on women or women’s federations of economic and technological development zone, industrial chambers, the delivery sector, universities and online service companies, and BWF’s affiliated public institutions.
