Beijing Women's Association for Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Compatriots and Overseas Chinese Holds Plenary Session

The second plenary session of the seventh board of directors of the Beijing Women's Association for Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Compatriots and Overseas Chinese was held on March 14 in Beijing. Participants deliberated and voted on six affairs according to the agenda of the session. Zhong Jin, executive vice-president of the association, presided over the meeting in which 105 members attended.

In her work report to the plenary session, Pansy Ho Chiu-king, member of the Standing Committee of the 14th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee and president of the Beijing Women's Association for Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Compatriots and Overseas Chinese, gave a year-end review of what the association accomplished in 2022 and outlined its key goals for the year ahead.

Ho said that the association will fully study and implement the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), strengthen its organizational building and regulatory management, launch more brand programs, promote institutional innovation concerning social organizations and gather more public support for social services, redouble its efforts to advance the development of women's and children's affairs in Beijing, Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan, and make contributions to the realization of national reunification.

Feng Xiwen, director of the Beijing liaison department under the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), said that the department has closely followed the guidance of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR and served Macao people working and living in the capital city. He said that with the support of the Beijing Women's Association for Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Compatriots and Overseas Chinese, Macao women have fully enjoyed their work and life in Beijing and played a vital role in the country's modernization push. He added that the Beijing Liaison Department looks forward to working with the association in the organization of diverse activities, and striving in unity with women compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, as well as overseas Chinese to follow and improve the "one country, two systems" practices in the two SARs, support the realization of national reunification, and advance the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts.

Tan Hong, vice-president of the Beijing Women's Federation (BWF), said that the Beijing Women's Association for Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Compatriots and Overseas Chinese has earnestly fulfilled its duties, strengthened its collaboration with women's groups in the capital city, and supported women's federations work of connecting and serving women from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan compatriots as well as overseas Chinese. Tan called on the association to seek the greatest common ground, expand the channels of exchanges for women, serve women and children, become a bridge connecting Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan compatriots, as well as overseas Chinese women, and make contributions to the realization of national reunification and rejuvenation.

Huang Keying, deputy director-general of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, urged the associations members to pursue success in their careers to showcase strength of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan compatriots as well as overseas Chinese women. She hoped the members will become participants in the high-quality development of the capital city, give full play to their roles in consolidating and expanding the strength of all patriotic Chinese people at home and abroad, deepen the exchanges with women across the world and advance the interaction among young Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan compatriots as well as overseas Chinese.

Under the leadership of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and the BWF, the Beijing Women's Association for Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Compatriots and Overseas Chinese will stay true to its original aspiration to unite women compatriots and contribute to the national reunification.

Those in attendance of the plenary session also included Song Wei, deputy director-general of the Liaison Department of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), Yu Fengying, first-class inspector of the Taiwan Work Office of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, and representatives from the secretariat of the China Vocational Education Association and several departments of the BWF.
