BWF Holds Event to Commend, Inspire Women on New Journey

To commend role models, unite and lead women in Beijing to contribute to the city’s development and Chinese modernization, Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) held a ceremony at the Beijing Radio & Television Station on March 3.
The event brought together Song Yushui, part-time vice-president of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) and vice-president of the Beijing Intellectual Property Court, Liu Qinghua, director-general of the ACWF Publicity Department, Zhang Yajun, secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group and president of the BWF, other senior officials of the BWF, and Sun Qianbin, director and editor-in-chief of China Women's News.
The ceremony included three sections, with the theme on how women fulfill their mission and achieve career development under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), to portray image of women role models on the new journey and depict their love for the country through video shows, story-sharing, interviews and presentation of awards.
Performances at the ceremony
The Beijing Chinese Orchestra, a National March 8th Red-Banner Collective, gave a show at the beginning of the event. The Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Teaching and Research on the Courses of Ideological and Political Theory, another winner of the honor of National March 8th Red-Banner Collectives, presented an ideological and political class to demonstrate its efforts to improve ideological and political courses from elementary schools to universities, and foster virtues through education.
Cai Fenghui, a delegate to the 20th CPC National Congress and a National March 8th Red-banner Holder, talked about the spirit of a reply letter written by General Secretary Xi to her and other role models, adding that she will firmly devote herself to the realization of socialism and fulfill her duties wholeheartedly as a sanitary worker at Tiananmen Square. The Institute of Innovation for Development at the Beijing Academy of Science and Technology, a National March 8th Red-Banner Collective, briefed attendees on its commitment to promoting women's participation in sci-tech innovation and seeking key breakthroughs in sci-tech research.
Some award-winning individuals and groups share their stories.
During the second section, Wu Yixia, a National March 8th Red-banner Holder, spoke about her adherence to the development philosophy that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets and her commitment to the co-existence between humanity and nature and the improvement of people’s livelihoods.
Zheng Shuli, also a National March 8th Red-banner Holder, talked about her decade-long efforts to serve grassroots people and help them solve the most pressing difficulties of high concern. Huang Huilin, 89, a veteran of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea (1950-1953), a senior professor from Beijing Normal University and a National March 8th Red-banner Holder, sang a song that she composed and won warm applause of audience.

During the third section, Beijing National Alpine Ski Co., Ltd, a National March 8th Red-Banner Collective, and Wang Rui, a National March 8th Red-banner Holder, shared their contributions and sacrifices to the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and the building of major national projects. Qian Suyun, a National March 8th Red-banner Pacesetter and expert from Beijing Children's Hospital (National Center for Children's Health) Affiliated to Capital Medical University, spoke about her commitment to saving the lives of children in critical conditions over the past three decades.
Individual and group role models receive awards.
During the event, winners of National March 8th Red-Banner Pacesetter, National March 8th Red-banner Holder and National March 8th Red-Banner Collective titles received their awards. The workshops of Lu Yongli, a National March 8th Red-Banner Pacesetter, and Sun Qiwei, a National March 8th Red-banner Holder, were named as the first group of exemplary women workshops in the capital.
Some delegates to the 20th CPC National Congress, National March 8th Red-banner Holders and representatives from National March 8th Red-Banner Collectives give a performance.
The event also drew the attendance of women representatives from all social sectors, heads of women's federations of universities, online service platform Meituan and Twitter-like platform Sina Weibo, and directors of working committees on women in government departments and industrial chambers.
