BWF Convenes Training for Heads of Women's Activity Centers

Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) held a training session for the heads of 50 Women's Home activity centers in 16 districts and the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Zone from April 12 to 14.

The three-day training event aimed to make the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) better known among women and their families, to strengthen organizational and capacity building of the heads of women's activity centers, and enrich the functions of the centers to serve women and children.

The training focused on the study and implementation of the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress and important discourses by Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, on women, children, family, women's federations and Beijing. It also responded to new requirements and tasks concerning the work on women in the new era.

During the event, Sun Yiping, vice-principal of the Marxism Studies School of the Party School of Beijing Municipal CPC Committee, gave a lecture on the significance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of the times. Qi Xiaoyu, Wang Xiangmei and Wang Xianmi, three associate professors from the China Women's University (CWU), spoke about methods to conduct women-oriented mass work, advance the building of women's activity centers from a gender perspective, and organize assessments of the needs of women and children and make activity designs. Li Tao, founder of the Beijing Social Work Development Center for Facilitators, briefed attendees on the organizational building of women's activity centers.

At panel discussions, participants held exchanges over the highlights, hot topics and thorny issues in connection with the development of women's activity centers.

Meanwhile, three representatives from grassroots women's federations shared their feelings and gains from the training and came up with personal proposals for the further development of women's activity centers.

The BWF also provided attendees with three professional publications on women's activity centers and family education to deepen their systematic and comprehensive understanding of training topics and ensure the full implementation of their learning with concrete results.

The participants said that they will further enhance their personal sense of mission and responsibility, improve their work competence and skills, push for the building of women's activity centers, fulfill their duties in bridging and serving women, and contribute toward the high-quality development of the capital city.

The training drew the attendance of about 500 people from local women's activity centers via video link.
