The Beijing Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection, the Beijing Municipal Supervisory Commission, the Organization Department of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, the Beijing Municipal Office for Cultural-Ethical Progress, the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and the Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) recently unveiled a list of the most beautiful families of the capital city for the first quarter of the year 2023.

Seventy-five role model families, represented by the families of Chen Dong, Wang Linda, Liu Zilong and Song Dechen, were on the list under the theme “forging ahead with love for the country on the new journey.”

The Family of Chen Dong: Carrying Forward Revolutionary Traditions

The family of Chen Dong and Liu Jinping has a close bond with China's Air Force. Liu Shanben, the father of Liu Jinping, was one of founders of the Chinese Air Force and a leading pilot during the celebrations for the establishment of the People's Republic of China (PRC) on October 1, 1949. Liu Shanben was also head of the First Aviation School affiliated with the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).

Under the influence of his father, Liu Jinping joined the PLA. Meanwhile, Chen, wife of Liu Jinping, has written a biography and a memoir to recall the family's decades-long stories with the PLA Air Force and taken part in the compilation of a publication in memory of the New Fourth Army.

Liu Xiaopeng, son of Chen and Liu Jinping, works at a research society of the old aviation school in northeast China. In 2016, he was invited to attend a commemorative ceremony for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the old aviation school. Chen was also awarded the memorial medal for members bearing five decades of Party membership.

The Family of Wang Linda: Dedicated to Public-interest Affairs in Community

Wang Linda, president of the Yihai Group and Yihai Education Group, has integrated philanthropic concepts with real estate business since she and her family moved from Hong Kong to the Chinese mainland three decades ago.

Yihai Garden residential communities, developed by Yihai Group, have been awarded by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development as pleasant places to live. Wang has also founded community-based colleges for the elderly and worked with her daughter Wang Leyin to promote the garbage sorting and take part in activities for the International Day of Families.

In 2012, Wang Linda launched the Beijing Yihai Foundation. Wang Leyin created a whole-life-cycle educational system to promote education in communities. Xin Dihao, Wang Linda’s son, set up a special fund to support the organization of sci-tech festivals in community-based schools and to support the education of outstanding students. The family also made donations to support the COVID-19 epidemic response and flood relief work in central China's Henan province.

The Family of Liu Zilong: Loving Care for Family Members

Liu Zilong has wholeheartedly taken care of his parents and wife, all of whom are bedridden, after resigning from his office. He gets up early and prepares nutritious food for them every day. Under Liu's positive influence, his daughter has shared the burden of taking care of her mother and grandmother and she performs well at work. The family of Liu has grown into a role model in their village for respecting the elderly and loving family members.

The Family of Song Dechen: Raising Happy, Independent Child

Song Dechen is a medical worker. He and his team provided Chinese athletes and their coaches with all-round medical services during the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. Zhao Shuyun, wife of Song, is an employee at a security company. The couple has attached great importance to the cultivation of their daughter Song Muen's independent thinking ability and reading habit. The girl has become a versatile talent at dancing, drawing, anchoring and playing musical instruments.

According to the BWF, this year’s looking for the capital’s most beautiful families campaign will select a group of role-model families to promote positive family values of new era and the building of a harmonious society. It is scheduled to release a list of most beautiful families each quarter, unveil an annual list of 300 role model families and a concurrent list of the top 10 most beautiful families in the capital city, make their stories widely known, and promote the building of new socialist family traditions, which stress the love of the country and family, mutual love and assistance, the pursuit of benevolence and excellence, and the building of an inclusive society.
