Beijing Holds Meeting on Training for Mid-term Review of Women and Children's Development Plan

The Office of the Beijing Municipal Working Committee on Children and Women held a meeting on April 21 at the Beijing Women and Children's Service Center, to highlight its main work in 2023 and to give a training for the mid-term assessment of Beijing’s 14th Five-Year (2021-2025) plan for women and children's development.
The event aimed to study and implement the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), to act on decisions made by the 13th Beijing Municipal Congress of the CPC and to carry forward this year's main work on women and children.
During the meeting, Wang Weiguo, director-general of the China Next Generation Education Foundation and former executive vice-director of the Office of the National Working Committee on Children and Women under the State Council, gave a lecture on implementing the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress and promoting the high-quality development of the work on women and children.
Zhu Yannan, deputy director and spokesperson of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Statistics, presented a report on the economic development of the capital city from the perspective of statistics.
Fang Fang, an inspector from the Department of Social Affairs of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Statistics, gave an analytical interpretation of statistical monitoring indicators in Beijing’s 14th Five-Year plan for women and children's development.
Liu Ling, executive vice-director of the Office of the Beijing Municipal Working Committee on Children and Women and an inspector with the Beijing Women's Federation, stressed the committee's main work in 2023 and the mid-term review work of the women and children's development plan.
To ensure the full implementation of all objectives and tasks, the meeting noted that relevant departments should bear in mind the country's fundamental interests, take a clear-cut political stand, integrate theoretical learning with practice to fulfill the mission of advancing the work on women and children. They should focus on central work, conduct mid-term assessment on the plan for women and children's development on a systematic basis and in a high-quality manner and incorporate the preparation for the opening of the seventh Beijing Municipal Conference on Women and Children into institutional building related to the assessment of gender equality in governmental policies and law, the construction of a child-friendly city and the pursuit of the high-quality development of women's and children's affairs. They must forge ahead with tenacity to guarantee the full implementation of all tasks in the work on women's and children's affairs.
Those in attendance of the meeting included liaison workers from member departments and heads of offices of district-level working committees on children and women as well as representatives from district-level bureaus of statistics.
