BWF Highlights Support for Public Service Projects for Women, Children, Families
Date:2023-4-28 9:22:41 Views:Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) held a ceremony on April 27 to display the achievements of public service projects for women, children and families that were implemented with its support in 2022 and to announce its plan for collecting and sponsoring new projects this year. The ceremony was held at Beijing Public Service Center for Women and Children.
The ceremony brought together A Rong, deputy director-general of the Social Liaison, Exchanges and Cooperation Center of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), Chen Yanping, member of the Leading Party Members’ Group and vice-president of the BWF, and about 100 representatives of the district-level women's federations and relevant social organizations.
During the event, BWF reviewed its last year’s action for supporting public service projects for women, children and families. In 2022, the federation selected 11 projects to which it offered funds, professional guidance and technical counseling, and monitored the projects’ implementation. Among the projects, some were designed to raise women college students' enthusiasm for scientific and technological innovation, and some have helped children to take part in community governance and cultivated children’s interest in science and volunteering spirit. Other projects carried out safety education for girls, extended assistance to single mothers, disseminated advanced childcare philosophies, and enhanced the knowledge and skills of volunteers. A total of 429 activities have been held through the 11 projects, benefiting 11,000 people directly and 1.2 million people indirectly.
At the ceremony, representatives from five projects shared with attendees their experiences. Beijing Xixi Service Center for Children and Beijing Daxing Zhonghe Social Services Agency received the title of BWF’s public welfare partner.
The BWF kicked off the recommendation and selection of this year's public service projects, which mainly targets at the areas of women's sci-tech innovation services, the building of harmonious families and a child-friendly city, the implementation of supporting policies for childbirth, and the improvement of women’s volunteering service competence and the capacity and unity of women-oriented social organizations.
