An event is held for model families in Beijing to share their stories.

 

The Beijing Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection, the Beijing Municipal Supervisory Commission, the Organization Department of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, the Beijing Municipal Office for Cultural-Ethical Progress, the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and the Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) held an event for sharing inspirational stories of the Capital’s Most Beautiful Families on May 15, the International Day of Families.   

The event was aimed to further promote the study and implementation of the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress, act on important instructions made by General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping on family education and family traditions, and ensure full implementation of core socialist values with fruitful results.

The ceremony brought together Zhao Hongwei, member of the Leading Party Members’ Group and vice-president of the BWF, officials from other organizers, and representatives from women's federations and/or working committees on women of all districts, Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, delivery sector, universities and internet-based companies.

After the release of a short video, representatives of the most beautiful families in the capital city shared stories about how they integrated the pursuit of personal ideals with the country’s development.

 

Fostering Talents with Warmth

During the event, Lu Yongli, principal of Beijing No.2 Experimental Primary School, gave a demonstration on how to deliver education with warmth to children. She had discussion with children on various topics.

Lu, also a delegate to the 20th CPC National Congress, spoke with children about the guiding principles of the key Party congress in understandable language to help them cultivate the right worldview, outlook on life, and values we should embrace.

A Four-Generation Family with Fine Traditions

Wang Hou, 7, shared with attendees his understanding of revolutionary stories, the founding and development of the CPC, and loyalty to the Party. Hou Yun, mother of Wang Hou, has integrated heroic deeds of martyrs with family education and helped the boy learn more about revolutionary stories and traditions since his childhood. Wang Dahu, father of Wang Hou, has set up an example for the boy by serving the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and acting as a volunteer teacher for children from mountainous areas.

Xu Zihan, great-grandmother of Wang Hou, is a veteran who took part in the Battle of Shangganling in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea (1950-53). She conveyed great expectations toward youth via video link at the ceremony.

Three-Generation of Railway Workers

Li Chenchen comes from a family of three generations of railway workers. Together with his grandfather and father, Li has participated in the building of the Chengdu-Kunming Railway, Beijing West Railway Station, Beijing No.6 Subway Line and many other railway lines during the past decades.

The family has witnessed the country's fast development and wisdom, and its members have carried on the fulfillment of responsibilities at their posts from generation to generation.

During the ceremony, Li and his wife presented a song to praise selfless contributions and sacrifices made by thousands of millions of Chinese railway workers.

Dedicated to Improvement of Living Environment in Hutongs

Zhu Maojin is a resident from Caochangsitiao Hutong in Dongcheng district. What has made him very proud is the visit and praise from General Secretary Xi toward his courtyard during an inspection tour in Beijing in 2019.

Since then, Zhu has put in mind great expectations of General Secretary Xi by taking concrete actions to retain the capital city's historical and cultural traditions so that history and hometown memory can take roots in people's minds. For instance, Zhu has worked with his neighbors to build parking sheds of electric bikes, draft neighborhood conventions and transform their neighborhood into a harmonious and decent living place.

In a letter to General Secretary Xi, Zhu spoke with him about notable developments in the neighborhood. The letter has been inscribed into a publication on Xi’s visits to people’s homes by the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF).

During the ceremony, organizers presented copies of the book on Xi’s visits to people’s homes to representatives of the most beautiful families in the capital city and hoped them to thoroughly read the book, understand deep affection from Xi for the people, and firmly follow the leadership of the Party in the realization of the great dream of national rejuvenation.

Prior to the conclusion of the ceremony, Zhang Baozhu and his wife Yu Rui, also a pair of awardees, joined a chorus of teenagers to perform a song to demonstrate the firm will of all ordinary families in remaining loyal to the Party.

In addition, attending families were invited to write down their best wishes to all families and the country on postcards and put the cards into a special mailbox.

According to organizers, they will conduct the campaign on looking for the most beautiful families in the capital city, advocate positive outlook on family, make the stories of model families better known, and fully leverage exemplary roles of award-winning families in advancing the development of the city.
