Beijing Holds Family-Education-Themed Activity to Mark Int'l Children's Day

An activity, with the theme "remaining loyal to the Party and uniting in building the Chinese Dream", was held in Enjoy Art Museum of Beijing's 798 Art Zone on June 1 to celebrate International Children's Day. The event was organized by Beijing Women's Federation (BWF), Beijing Municipal Education Commission and Beijing Working Committee on Caring for the Next Generation, and undertaken by Chaoyang District Women's Federation, the administrative committee of Beijing (Chaoyang) National Cultural Innovation Zone and the Parenting Science magazine of Beijing Publishing Group. Those in attendance of the event included Zhao Hongwei, vice-president of the BWF, Zhou Hao, deputy general-manager of Beijing Publishing Group, and nearly 200 children and their families.

A special video, titled "Unity Is Strength," was shown at the beginning of the activity which aimed to provide family education guidance.

A group of primary school students presented a poetry recitation to showcase the vitality of youth and their determination to incorporate personal aspirations and their families’ dreams into the efforts to achieve national rejuvenation.

In her speech, Lu Shizhen, a family education expert and professor with China Youth University of Political Studies, underscored the importance of helping children follow the principles of unity and hard work and set up lofty ideals in the new era.

Xu Ying, an ambassador of the themed activity, a scientist with the Beidou Navigation Satellite System and a researcher with the Aerospace Information Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences, extended festive greetings to children and called on them to study hard and make contributions to the building of a modern socialist country in all respects.

Wang Hou, whose family is an honoree of the National Most Beautiful Families 2023, presented a speech on how his family has carried forward revolutionary traditions and strove for achievements. His story reflects the importance of fine family education in leading children to develop the awareness of unity and strong affection toward the country.

Officials presented children a package of reading materials to help families build positive parent-child relations through reading.

Students from Beijing Yumin Primary School gave a chorus performance, titled "Unity Is Strength," to demonstrate positive image of children and teenagers in the new era.

Participants attend various interactive side activities during the ceremony.

 

Attending families and children took part in interactive side activities, which included the production of logos for local landmarks and child-friendly-city themed posters.

Since 2020, BWF has worked with Beijing Municipal Education Commission and Beijing Working Committee on Caring for the Next Generation to fulfill educations fundamental task of fostering virtue and nurturing talent. They focus on one theme each year to provide family-education guidance and build a good family and social environment for childrens healthy growth.

This year, focusing on the education on unity, the organizers made a proposal, recommended a list of reading material to the public, produced a themed video and collected exemplary parenting stories to advocate school-family-community cooperative education, and guide children to unite and make contributions to the high-quality development of the capital city in the new era.
