Association Convenes Deliberation of Young Women Scientists’ Research Results
Date:2023-7-13 15:40:51 Views:Under the guidance of Beijing Women's Federation (BWF), the Capital Women Professors Association (CWPA) recently held a meeting at the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) to hear and deliberate the reports made by 13 women scientists on their research. The scientists are sponsored by the Women Science and Technology Pioneering Program.

Members of the jury included Li Yanqiu, a specially invited professor with "Changjiang Scholars Program" from BIT; Xu Qi, a specially invited professor with "Changjiang Scholars Program" and a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars from the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences; Chen Ling, a recipient of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars from Beijing Normal University; Hong Guanxin, Vice-President of the CWPA and a professor with Beihang University; and Guo Min, Vice-President of the CWPA and a professor with the University of International Business and Economics.
The meeting was also attended by He Haiyan, President of the CWPA and Cui Lixin, Deputy Secretary-General of the CWPA.
He Haiyan said that the Women Science and Technology Pioneering Program was launched as an effort to study and implement important discourses by Chinese President Xi Jinping on advancing sci-tech innovation, act on circulars made by the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), the Ministry of Science and Technology and several other central authorities on further bolstering women's participation in sci-tech innovation. The program invited academic supervisors to help young scientists conduct in-depth, cutting-edge research and leveraged the role of CWPA in strengthening the capacity building of scientists in leadership and decision making. The program will raise the sense of responsibility, mission of young scientists. During the past year, 13 scientists who joined in the program have done lots of innovative explorations and pressed ahead with sci-tech research activities. He Haiyan called on them to further strengthen inter-discipline and cross-university exchanges with an international vision and set up an exemplary role for their peers nationwide.

Five members of the jury spoke highly of achievements and serious attitude of the 13 scientists in their research, conducted in-depth discussions with them, and urged them to take part in more exchange activities, engage in cross-discipline learning, target major and frontier issues in emerging fields.
