To deepen the implementation of the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and comprehensively act on important discourses by General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping on children, women's federations across the capital city have focused on ideological guidance, service coverage, safety education and targeted assistance to disadvantaged children in organizing publicity and education activities.

Local women's federations have jointly fostered the children-friendly brand "My City and I", made full use of children's service centers in the organization of public welfare activities for teenagers in the summer holiday, and leveraged their special organizational strength in better helping flood-affected children get back to normal life soon in terms of ideological guidance, physical health and psychological counseling.

As of mid-August, women's federations in Beijing had totally held 4,983 sessions of children-oriented service activities with the participation of 420,000 teenagers.

Underscore Ideological Guidance, Hold Diverse Educational Practice Activities

Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) has sponsored a short video contest for children during the summer holiday in a drive to help teenagers better record their vacation life and cultivate a positive social atmosphere for their growth.

Women's federations across the capital have launched a wide range of educational practice activities to help children further firm up their dream and conviction and foster deep love of the country.

For instance, the Women's Federation of Haidian District has opened a series of classes to carry forward revolutionary traditions and promote fine family traditions. The Women's Federation of Huairou District has held a special artistic performance for children to help them develop strong affection toward the Party and the country. The Women's Federation of Shijingshan District has organized a thematic reading gathering for children to bear in mind the history and cherish their happy life. Under the support of college students and volunteers, the Women's Federation of Pinggu District has integrated the promotion of classical revolutionary publications and revolutionary traditions with parent-child reading activities.

Focus on Children's Physical Safety, Roll out High-quality Family Education Guidance Service

Women's federations across the capital have further highlighted children's physical safety and strengthened family education guidance service. BWF has fully leveraged its live-streaming classroom platform to enhance the capacity of parents in ensuring the physical safety of their children.

The Women's Federation of Dongcheng District has unveiled thematic activities to further promote the popularity of physical safety knowledge and keep children far away from physical injuries. The Women's Federation of Shunyi District has invited local families to visit an exhibition hall, helping them learn more about public safety knowledge associated with earthquakes and traffic accidents and acquire necessary self-rescue skills. The Women's Federation of Daxing District has organized children to attend outdoor rescue drills in Xihongmen Emergency Safety Education Base. The Women's Federation of Miyun District has held first-aid training sessions for children and teenagers to impart to them basic first-aid knowledge and the use of automated external defibrillator (AED) and help them enhance self-rescue and mutual assistance capacity in emergency cases.

Raise Children's Comprehensive Competence through Colorful Activities

Women's federations across the capital city have held various thematic activities in terms of culture and arts, scientific experience, manual techniques, social labor and education on the rule of law to improve children’s all-around development.

BWF has held a series of science popularization activities in collaboration with Beijing Women Scientists Association to further spur children's interest in science. The Women's Federation of Xicheng District has organized parent-child reading activities to raise children's enthusiasm toward science. The Working Committee on Women of Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone has invited children to visit science popularization education bases to help them follow environmentally-friendly approaches in daily life. The Women's Federation of Changping District has launched activities for families to share their feelings and experiences about reading. The Women's Federation of Yanqing District has recruited volunteers to help children do their holiday assignments and foster positive habits.

Address Most Pressing Difficulties, Safeguard Healthy Growth of Children

Women's federations across the capital city have targeted actual demands of disadvantaged children, provided them with precise assistance such as psychological counseling and homework tutoring, and introduced special nursing service in their flood prevention and relief and post-disaster reconstruction works.

BWF has built mental health volunteer teams and used the hotline 12338 to provide flood-affected children with psychological counseling. The Beijing Women and Children Development Foundation has raised funds and daily necessities for women and children in the flood-affected areas of Mentougou and Fangshan districts.

The Women's Federation of Mentougou District has opened a special psychological assistance channel for minors in collaboration with the district-level people's procuratorate to provide flood-affected children with free mental health intervention and aid. The Women's Federation of Fangshan District has set up women and children's service centers in the relocated centers to offer special nursing services concerning handicrafts, environmental conservation and interactive games and hold a group birthday ceremony for children aged eight. The Women's Federation of Fengtai District has prioritized its special nursing service for the elderly and minors and adopted digital management for a matrix of urban communities to help women and children fully feel its love and warmth. The Women's Federation of Chaoyang District has opened special nursing classrooms and camps to carry out homework tutoring and safety education for needy children. The Women's Federation of Tongzhou District has invited professional psychological workers to provide needy individuals with one-on-one mental health counseling and pay home visits to those who may need psychological intervention.
