BWF Holds Training Session on Work of Family, Children and Family Education Guidance Centers

Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) held a training session on family and children-related work and the work of family education guidance centers from October 18 to 20. The three-day training session aimed to comprehensively implement important discourses by General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Xi Jinping on family ties, values and traditions. It also aimed to promote the study, publicity and implementation of the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress and the seventh National Conference on Women and Children, set stage for the 13th National Women's Congress (NWC), press ahead with the completion of Beijings family education guidance system and the building of family education guidance centers at municipal and district levels, and advance the high-quality development of the capital city's work on family ties, values and traditions. The training event drew the attendance of 120-plus people, including presidents of the women's federations of 16 districts and Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, representatives from member units of Beijing Family Education Guidance Committee, directors of municipal and district-level family education guidance centers, and staff workers from district-level education commissions in Beijing.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the training session, Zhao Hongwei, member of the Leading Party Members Group and vice-president of the BWF, asked attendees to earnestly study and implement important discourses by General Secretary Xi on family ties, values and traditions. The attendees were also asked to do the following: act on the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress, elevate family-related work to a new height and advance the building of municipal and district-level family education service centers and the family education guidance service system that cover both urban and rural areas.

Main topics of the training session included the study and implementation of important discourses by General Secretary Xi on family ties, values and traditions and the building of family education service centers in urban and rural areas. Li Mingshun, vice-president of China Women's University (CWU), Kang Liying, dean of Preschool Education College at Capital Normal University, Liu Jitong, a professor with the School of Public Health at Peking University, Wu Zhonghan, a professor with Jiangxi Normal University, Yang Xiong, head of the Youth and Teenagers Research Center in Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, and Zhang Juhe, president of Beijing Shiqing Education Technology Research Institute, lectured on the innovative development of family education-related work, the collaboration among family, school and the society on education and the promotion of family cultures.

The training session involved visits and group discussions to help participants better engage in mutual learning and achieve anticipatory results. To accelerate the building of the "114N" family education guidance system, BWF organized trainees to visit the district-level family education service center and the women and children's service center in Shunyi. Trainees from the women's federations of Dongcheng, Shijingshan, Mentougou and Shunyi districts shared their advantages and approaches in family education-related work. Officials from the district-level women's federations were divided into separate groups to hold talks about the study, publicity and implementation of the guiding principles of the 13th NWC, celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Capital’s Most Beautiful Families campaign and strengthening the building of the family education service system.

Attendees said that the training session was closely relevant to family-related work with rich and practical contents. They added that they had gained solid knowledge and inspirations for summing up their work of 2023 and making plans for the work of 2024.
