Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) and the Bank of Beijing (BOB) signed a cooperation deal about the building of a child-friendly city at a sub-event of the 2024 Zhongguancun Forum, in the capital city on April 26. The ceremony drew the attendance of Zhang Yajun, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and President of the BWF and Director of the Office of Beijing Municipal Working Committee on Children and Women, and Chen Yanping, Member of the Leading Party Members' Group and Vice-President of the BWF. It aimed to further pool the strengths of people from all social sectors toward the building of a child-friendly city.

It has been not only the best gift a city gives to its children but also the common responsibility of the society to promote the building of a child-friendly place. In 2023, 23 municipal authorities such as Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform, and the Office of Beijing Municipal Working Committee on Children and Women jointly released an action plan on the building of a child-friendly city, which specified the building of a child-friendly environment in terms of policies, services, rights, space and environment. Additionally, Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform, and the Office of Beijing Municipal Working Committee on Children and Women launched an alliance on the building of a child-friendly city and came up with a proposal in a move to create an inclusive, open and dynamic platform with joint contribution. To encourage more enterprises, public institutions and social organizations to get involved in the building of a child-friendly city, Zhang and Huo Xuewen, Chairman of the BOB, jointly announced the opening of the alliance on the building of a child-friendly city in Beijing. The inauguration of the alliance will inspire the public to devote themselves to creating a beautiful life for children and a bright future for the capital city.

The building of a child-friendly city is an important symbol of Beijing's development in the new era. During the ceremony, Chen signed the cooperation agreement on behalf of the BWF with the BOB to further deepen their bilateral collaboration and advance the building of a child-friendly city in a holistic approach. According to the cooperation deal, BWF and BOB will closely follow the development principle that puts children first, meet the needs of teenagers, make full use of two sides' functions and strengths, and strengthen cooperation in the child-friendly renovation of public space in urban street hoods and residential communities and in the expansion of child-friendly venues. The two sides will carry out child-oriented financial knowledge popularization and other child-friendly activities, roll out child-friendly financial services, encourage and lead enterprises, public institutions and social organizations to introduce multiple-layer and inclusive child-friendly services and advance the building of child-friendly platforms with joint contribution. They will further promote the child-friendly philosophy that sees a city from the physical height of children, and guide in forming a social consensus that puts children first.
