Beijing Holds Training Session for Grassroots Officials of Women's Federations

The Department for Grassroots Organizations Construction of Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) and Beijing Women Cadres' School jointly held a demonstration training session for grassroots officials of women's federations in the capital city from April 22 to 24. The training session aimed to thoroughly study and understand the guiding principles of discourses by General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Xi Jinping on the work related to women, children and the work of women's federations, as well as on primary-level governance, fully implement major objectives and tasks of the 13th National Women's Congress of China (NWC), strengthen organizational building of grassroots women's federations, further bolster the political and ideological competence as well as comprehensive qualities of officials of grassroots women's federations, help them better perform their duties, and adapt themselves to new requirements for the high-quality development of women's and children's affairs and the work of women's federations. Fifty-two grassroots officials of women's federations in 16 districts and Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area attended the training.

The training event took it as a main line to help women's federations enhance their political consciousness, their advanced nature and their ability to represent women, and promoted the implementation of major objectives and tasks of the 13th NWC. The training session invited high-level professors, scholars and relevant personnel, which included Tan Xiaoyan, an associate professor with Beijing Municipal Party Committee School (Beijing Administration Institute), Jiang Xiuhua, second-class researcher with Women's Studies Institute of China, Deng Junying, associate professor at Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology and visiting researcher at the Research Center for Management Philosophy under Renmin University of China, and Huang Wei, director of the department for cultural heritage application of Beijing Municipal Cultural Heritage Relics. Their lectures involved policy interpretation, responsibility fulfillment, theoretical knowledge and practical cases.

 

Tan Xiaoyan gives a lecture about the study and implementation of the guiding principles of discourses by General Secretary Xi on primary-level governance and about how to bolster primary-level governance capabilities.

 

Jiang Xiuhua gives a lecture about the study and implementation of the guiding principles of speeches by General Secretary Xi and the implementation of the goals and tasks set by the 13th NWC.

 

 

Deng Junying gives a lecture titled "the Evolution of Thinking Methods and the Improvement of Women's Leadership".

 

Huang Wei gives an introduction to Beijing's application for its Central Axis to be included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site list, which drove the protection of cultural heirtages in the city as a whole.

 

The training class organized participants to visit Wangjiamo, a demonstration village for the building of beautiful courtyards in Fangshan district. The inspection tour aimed to help them draw inspiration from the demonstration village's typical experience and practical methods whilst leveraging the strength of women's federations and fulfilling their responsibilities.

Meanwhile, organizers of the training arranged case teaching. Ma Li, Vice-President of Fengtai Women's Federation, talked about the working mechanism adopted by the federation's executive commitee members. Li Xuehong, Vice-President of Pinggu Women's Federation, presented a case of bidirectional integration mechanism of micro-grid women's groups to serve grassroots women. Gui Yang, head of the Organization and Publicity Department of Huairou Women's Federation, talked about the federation's approaches in the building of special working offices of executive committee members. Their speeches covered such topics as duty fulfillment of women's federation's executive committee members, the services toward grassroots women, and grassroots organizational construction, which provided valuable reference and experience.

During the group discussions, attendees related personal work to new challenges and topics confronted with grassroots women's federations and shared their views and suggestions.

The training course involved diverse and flexible forms and generated solid results. It helped trainees further enhance their political stance, become more capable and grasp a better understanding of the direction of their future work. For their part, many attendees said that they will forge great strength from the training event toward their work and the services for women with concrete results, make full use of the strength of grassroots women's federations along with their connection with mass people, devote themselves wholeheartedly to the services for women, undertake personal work with high motivation and enthusiasm, and welcome the convocation of the 15th Beijing Municipal Women's Congress.
