The list of the Capital's Most Beautiful Families for the first quarter of 2024 was released recently. The Looking for the Capital's Most Beautiful Families campaign was jointly organized by Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) and six municipal departments.  Seventy-five role model families, represented by the families of Wu Hao, Zhou Xin, Du Xiaojie and Jia Xun, are on the list.

Family of Wu Hao: Engage in Sci-tech Innovation and Promote the Development of China's Aerospace Industry

Wu Hao is a researcher at the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology. She has  overcome multiple technological problems. Her research has helped improve the reliability of several rocket models, and ensure the success of lots of rocket launch missions. It is a routine for Wu to come to the workplace in early morning and go home at late night. She has personally compiled aerospace popularization materials and held science popularization lectures in the school of her daughter in a move to help people learn more about the country's aerospace development. Wu said that her success is inseparable from the understanding and support of her family. Her parents-in-law have helped her take care of her daughter and her parents have attended to the elderly at home. As a researcher, Wu has been committed to sci-tech innovation, making tremendous contributions to the development of China's aerospace industry.

Family of Zhou Xin: Enthusiasts of Parent-Child Running and Public Fitness

Zhou Xin, a teacher, has established a parent-child running team, held 135 parent-child running events on weekends with the participation of over 700 youths and parents, and encouraged parents to take part in such running activities so as to further improve parent-child relations. The parent-child running team founded by Zhou has become a window for the world to learn more about Chinese youths and received praise from President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bac for its commitment to keeping the Olympic spirit young forever. In addition, Zhou has launched a walking event along Beijing's central axis to help local families trace its history and stimulate the enthusiasm of children toward traditional Chinese culture. Under her positive influence and education, her daughter has performed well in school and grown in an all-round way. Zhou and her family have conducted parent-child activities on fitness through companion education and made unique contributions to the sports education of youths and the building of an optimistic and positive family environment for children's growth.

Family of Du Xiaojie: Passionate about Public Welfare and Traditional Chinese Family Virtues

Du Xiaojie has been widely known for the inspiring stories of taking intensive care of his sick father, launching personal business ventures after college graduation, taking part in public welfare activities and growing into a municipal-level role model. During the past years, he has participated in Red Wall Education Assistance Plan, volunteer activities in children's welfare centers in southwest China's Xizang autonomous region, anti-epidemic and poverty alleviation work, extended assistance to disadvantaged children in the completion of their education and paid great attention to the healthy growth of children and teenagers. He has also organized his teammates to provide volunteer services in the midst of community governance, fostered several public welfare brands, and organized over 1,000 public welfare activities, demonstrating the fulfillment of social responsibility by himself and his team. As Du says, what he has done is to convey to more needy persons the assistance and warmth that he used to receive from others in the past.

Family of Jia Xun: Promote Ecological Conservation and Lead Low-carbon Lifestyle

Jia Xun is a worker of the protection of natural reserve areas. At the workplace, she is expected to conduct patrols and lend a helping hand to endangered wild animals. Meanwhile, Jia has closely engaged in the organization of science popularization activities, the publicity of environmental conservation philosophies, and community-level volunteer services. Jia has often led her family to take part in ecological conservation popularization activities, carry out community-level volunteer services of environmental protection, and talk with children about the importance of ecological conservation. Under Jia's positive influences, her daughter has become an enthusiast of environmental conservation. Moreover, Jia has managed to get more people in her community involved in ecological protection. Jia and her family have used their concrete actions to promote the popularization of ecological civilization concepts, unite and lead people around them in following green and low-carbon lifestyle, and become a model family in Yanqing district.

In 2024, the Looking for Capital's Most Beautiful Families campaign is carried out under the theme of "working hard on the new journey, realizing dreams of family and country". A group of role-model families who show firm love for both the Party and the country, support the green development, raise their children in a scientific manner, manage their families in a clean and competent way, follow their piety obligations and practice civilized social norms will be selected. The organizers intend to showcase positive images of local families on the new journey, and further promote socialist core values and new family traditions in the new era.

In 2024, it is scheduled to release a list of most beautiful families each quarter, unveil an annual list of 300 role model families and a concurrent list of the top 10 most beautiful families in the capital city, make their stories widely known through online and offline means, and promote the building of new socialist family traditions, which stress the love of the country and family, mutual love and assistance, the pursuit of benevolence and excellence, and the building of an inclusive society.
