Thematic Event Held in Beijing to Mark International Children's Day

The 2024 Beijing Family Education Themed Cultivation and Practice Activity was held on June 1, International Children's Day, at the Beijing Auto Museum. Beijing Women's Federation (BWF), Beijing Municipal Education Commission, and Beijing Municipal Working Committee for the Wellbeing of the Youth jointly held the event. The event was attended by Vice-President of the BWF Zhao Hongwei, President of Fengtai District Women's Federation Liu Mengmeng, President of Beijing Auto Museum Qiao Xiaopeng, as well as local children and their parents.
At the opening ceremony, organizers broadcast an annual promotional video of the family education themed activity, which stated that communication makes families a warm place to be.
A chorus gave their shows, allowing children to appreciate the charm of traditional Chinese culture from their adaption of the time-honored poem and song.
During the event, Dong Ligan, a veteran soldier of the People's Liberation Army guarding the national flag at Tian'anmen Square, talked with children about the glorious mission and honor brought by his work and inspirational stories behind the national flag in his speech titled "National Flag in My Heart." He also asked them to carry forward patriotism and grow into a new generation of youths who are capable of shouldering the responsibilities of national rejuvenation.
Fu Lingkun, a role model of raising children in a scientific manner, shared with attendees her efforts to make full use of kitchen time to get her son involved in household chores.
The family of Zhang Baozhu, a Capital's Most Beautiful Family, performed a song, bringing the event to its climax and showcasing the aspiration of modern Chinese families for a better life.
Attending officials and family representatives jointly unveiled a weekend family day activity, as a sub-event of the 2024 Beijing Family Education Themed Cultivation and Practice Activity, and introduced to the public 16 recommended tourism destinations. They called on parents and their kids to go out on the weekends, carry forward revolutionary traditions, explore scientific discoveries, admire natural beauty, and become deeply immersed in culture.
On the sidelines of the event, the first weekend family day was held. Attending children and families paid a visit to a children-oriented science popularization exhibition on aerospace and Beijing Auto Museum.
