A parent-child interactive activity was jointly held by Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) and the Office of Beijing Municipal Working Committee on Children and Women at the Red Scarf Park on June 1 to celebrate International Children's Day. The event was organized by the Beijing Women and Children's Service Center.

The activity was mainly designed to invite children and their parents to gain a deep insight of Chinese culture, take part in traditional sports and games, and tour an exhibition on child-friendly cases.

Enjoying Cultural Experience Activities

During the event, organizers convened a series of cultural experience activities, which included reading classical illustrations, making postcards, writing letters to mother and making kangaroo toys. Over 100 parents and their children from the Capital's Most Beautiful Families got together to listen to recommended stories and take part in the making of handicrafts.

Organizers distributed special gifts among teenage attendees after the completion of all cultural activities.

Playing Classical Games

Attending parents and their children took part in a wide range of classical games, which included sandbag throwing, rope skipping and shuttlecock kicking. Those games helped adults rekindle their beautiful memory of the childhood and further strengthen their relations with kids. "There were lots of touching moments in the celebration of International Children's Day together with our children. We engaged in closer cooperation with our families and became more close to our children during the games. It is very meaningful to attend the event," said many parents.

Viewing the City from Children's Perspective

During the event, organizers also exhibited many child-friendly cases under the theme "Me and the City." Over the past years, women's federations at all levels across the capital city have worked closely with other departments in the organization of child-friendly services activities. Meanwhile, organizers put in place self-printing facilities for children to have their own photos printed and depict the child-friendly and beautiful city in their eyes.

The event also consisted of events held in Shijingshan Women and Children's Service Center, the Italian Farm in Shunyi district and the Kangxiyuan Family Farm in Yanqing district, hoping to guide parents and children to further improve their relations and promote the building of a child-friendly city.

In the years ahead, BWF will continuously sponsor similar activities for children, guide them to pursue lofty ideals, show strong affection toward the Party and the country, endeavor to be self-reliant and aspiring, and strive to be a generation capable of shouldering the responsibilities in the building of a strong country and national rejuvenation.
